I'm excited!!!

This is day one for me... what a way to bring in the 4th of July! Independence day for sure!!! I know the journey will be difficult, at times unbearable, however, I am ready to live my life and enjoy every day with my children. I am tired of forgetting conversations. I am tired of planning events around drinking. I am tired of not leaving the house to take my kids out because I would rather drink. I have wasted the last 20 years of my life. No more. I have surrendered my life to God and know that He is my salvation and my strength. I am sooooooooo grateful that I stumbled upon this website. Thank you to all of you for your willingness to share with others.

God bless you!

T.

Congraduations on the big day. The first step on the new path leads us to places unimaginable and usually not to where we think we're heading. Like a long and difficult trek it won't always be exciting and new but just keep one foot in front of the other and keep treking one step at a time

If you're going through hell, keep going. ~Winston Churchill

I like That " Independence Day". not Dependence on self but independence from the bondage of addiction. What a great feeling! I'm Free. Now I must do the things to assure my staying free. " If you do what you've always done you will get what you have always got" That works both positively and negativly. If I'm In a rut with drinking I've got to change some of the things I'M doing. Start taking positive action in the right direction.
Day 15 for me, Thank's God! And thank all you on SR for your support and wisdom!!

I saw this yesterday under A "v" formation fo geese

Tt is A fact that in the right formation, The lifting power of many wings can Achieve twice the lifting power and distance than any bird flying alone"
It reminded me of SR.

My drinking buddy came over to visit today. We have been drinking together (almost daily) since 1992. Today she drank beer...I drank a soda and a V-8. I thought it would be difficult for me. It was not. I think it's a mind set really. We'll see, this is only day one. I'm trying to stay positive and look not at what I am missing out on, but instead in what I stand to gain.

Good attitude T

I found there were times it was harder to be around folks drinking than others tho...so stay focused and be on yr guard - I feel it's perfectly ok to tell people not to come over...or ask them not to drink when they do

Welcome Read2live,

I can relate so much with your message. I'm 3 days sober and looking forward to the rest of my life staying this way.
SR is my haven from life right now. Any free time I have, I come here to read...to keep me focused during this time of transition.
Keep the sober vision in mind, we will overcome.
