Well, I am new here. I made a post a while back, but cannot get a handle on my drinking. enough is enough. I have been drinking for 28 years, and the last 6 have been VERY heavily. Blackouts, driving drunk. Complete idiot. I am not a mean drunk, just a stupid one that makes ignorant statements, falls down, passes out, etc. I have a beautiful family... wife of 12 years and 2 daughters, 7 and 10. They need a better person in their lives. I run a business and they depend on me financially and emotionally. I did go for 4 weeks sober in January after a very bad night, but now is the time for me to stop completely. Thanks for listening. See ya 'round! Scar (Day 1) |

Thanks for the welcome Carol and MG! ![]() Starting Day 2 now. I'm trying not to think that it will be a difficult start going into the weekend. I'm making it positive that I WILL make it through the weekend (even though all my friends will be!) and be even MORE proud that I didn't drink, thus making it a motivational start going into next week. I WILL NOT Drink... for today, I will NOT drink. Scar |

Congrats, Scarface! I'm on day 5 and feeling really good. My liver is starting to not hurt. I slept really well last night, and today is a gorgeous day in NYC. I too am worried about the weekend. Tonight especially. Friday's have been my bender nights for almost 10 years... also the nights I'm most likely to become a drunk belligerent suicidal a**hole that I don't remember Saturday morning. My wife showed me a video of my antics once. That was one of my biggest bottoms, seeing that a**hole with my body and voice. I would have punched a guy saying that stuff were I in my right mind. Then again, I could live without that kind of Friday for the rest of my life. Quite happily! Keep it up. A day at a time! |

| ......Hi Everyone....Weekend plans to keep busy works really well especially in early sobriety. It can be anything you enjoy .....that does not involve drinking alcohol. Or perhaps doing something you have always wanted to do....but were hampered by alcohol and hangovers. Something with your family? Tomorrow is an AA meeting day for me.....a noon meeting then a bunch of us will have lunch out. My AA friend Susan and I will be shopping later. Yes! you too can find recovery....keep in focus

Well, I suck. Couldn't even make it a day. Neighbors came over with 12-packs to celebrate the warm weather and the weekend... and I succumbed. Hating myself right now. So I guess today is another Day 1. I need to get a hold of this.... ![]() Scar |

Scarface I suck right along with you. I'm back to day one again. Let's try to learn from our mistakes and make today our last Day One. I am sick of feeling like this, our lives can be so much better and we deserve better. We can do this! I know all drinking did for me last night is make me feel awful mentally and physically. I don't want anymore day 1's. Come on here and read and post a lot. It's a great place to be. |

Hi, day two here for me. Doing a home detox and its been pretty challenging but I feel pretty positive about it. This time I finally went to the hospital and I'm so glad I did because the Librium is much preferable to the "maintenance" drinking I've done through previous withdrawals. I'm also going to be joining a program as soon as the detox is over. |

I'm glad that everyone is doing great, Today is day 20 for me, 3 weeks tomorrow, can't wait. SR has been a huge aid in my recovery, I'm not sure I would have made it this long without you guys. This weekend the cravings were mad but I made it through. Right now Im sitting at work feeling fresh from a nice relaxing sober weekend, quite an awesome feeling.
