YIPPEE! I made it! DAY ONE, BABY! :) :) :)

Congrats to everyone for making another day! :)

Mikey, your house looks AWESOME! :)

I purchased the Chicago song "(I've Been) Searchin' So Long" off iTunes. I have always wanted to become a runner so in honor of my journey, tomorrow I begin my running routine. I plan to add this song to my playlist. It will be a great "warm-up" song! :) I love it...here are the lyrics...

(I'VE BEEN) SEARCHIN' SO LONG by Chicago

As my life goes on I believe
Somehow something's changed
Something deep inside
Ooh a part of me

There's a strange new light in my eyes
Things I've never known
Changin' my life
Changin' me

I've been searchin'
So long
To find an answer
Now I know my life has meaning
Ow oh

Now I see myself as I am
Feeling very free
Life is everything
Ooh it's meant to be
When my tears have come to an end
I will understand
What I left behind
Part of me

I've been searching
So long
To find and answer
Now I know my life has meaning
Woah woah

Searching
Don't you know I'm hell yeah
For an answer
To the question
Oh yeah
For our minds
Baby
Baby it's true
It's only natural
It's only natural baby, yeah
Good things
In life
Take a long time
yeah yeah

Good Night! :)

Fantastic thread. 19th July 2008 and still sober - very proud of myself to get to 8 days and not even feel like a drink yet. Hopefully I can keep this strong, positive state of mind.

Good luck to everyone!!

Hello all, just checking in on day 25, I hope everyone is doing ok.

Hang in there winwin it does get better. I have had days where it's all I could think about too but it does go away if you keep saying no. The last few days, I still think about it obviously but it's getting easier to ignore.

Good Morning Day 42 here!!!

I am stuck in my head today. I am meeting with my sponsor in a couple days to go over the Step Process. I know this is the only thing that will work for me.. While I dread it I am looking forward to it... I am just scared of being completely honest and unconvering people that I hurt without them knowing. Things that may really sever relationships if they ever knew. I am not sure how this is going to go...

Mikey - Looks great!

BreakFree - I identified with your post so much....and then I read your next post that you were starting a running program tomorrow! I want to do that too! Actually, I've had good intentions of doing that all summer, but alcohol was getting in the way. Can't get up and run when I'm hungover in bed.
So have you told your hubby about this new sobriety? I haven't told mine. The 2 times I have told him that I thought my drinking was out of control, he brushed me off. So I don't think I'm going to get any support from him. He is NOT a problem drinker - he can have a couple and stop there without a second thought.
I should probably tell him, but I really think he's going to come back with, "You don't have a drinking problem!" and I might let myself believe him.

Congrats to everyone on their sober days! Today is Day 3 for me. I haven't slept good the past 2 nights - hopefully better sleep is in the near future.

Awesome job Saxony. Looks like we will be passing out 30 day coins and key tags very soon here.

I don't have true manic depression but I do have depression and I go a bit manic when I first sober up.
Some thoughts about how to make buddhism type stuff fit the AA program and fit me are falling into place.
Each morning I get a feeling of determination to be sober, I actually feel it in my stomach. Nothing could happen today that would make me drink.

Suzette
Keep up the good work Suzette. We can all do this. The trick is to make sure you have no reservations in your recovery. I can relate to the depression thing. When we first get clean and sober our emotions are running wild. I go through my moods too. It gets better. We are all very early in our recovery.

I am an alcoholic and find people at NA meetings more accepting for some reason!!! Maybe just me... I made 3 friends today that all have over a year of sobriety. It felt good that they talked to me. They are my first face to face friends besides my sponsor since starting meetings over a month ago

It is not easy but it is worth it. Thank you everyone so much for your continued support. I always feel alone except when I am here...
Thats cool. I went to the AA picnic yesterday. It was great. As far as meetings go? Just go where ever you feel most comfortable. Glad to hear you met some new people. Thats why I like to go early and stay late. And your never alone. Whether you are here at SR or anywhere else.

Day SIXTEEN! I survived the reunion at the bar!!! lol! Here's a funny realization...as the women at the bar were getting drunker, I was getting hotter!! Whoohoo! Who knew that NOT drinking would tap into my vanity so much?! Turns out I must've been a wreck during my drinking/bar days....hooded eyes, slurring speech, yet thinking i looked so hot...haha! Being the sober one at the bar was FUN and a real eye-opener! I had zero interest in alcohol!

Hey guys -
Good to see you all again. I guess I should let everyone know that I did slip up a little this weekend at the lake. On the one hand I was proud of myself because although I did drink, I didn't go NEARLY as crazy as I would otherwise have done. Also I came to the realization that no one was watching me drink to see how many I'd had (I had always thought I had to drink 2x as much as everyone so I was "cool").

On the other hand, once I had that first sip I had to constantly wrestle in my mind with the fact I that I could NOT get drunk. It was torture and taught me a lot!

So as of Sunday morning I climbed back on the wagon. As everyone seems to say, us folks can't just "have a couple". It's all or nothing, and for me it's gotta be nothing!
