Woke up today Just wanted to share a rather funny story with you.. Last night we had a bon fire and some people over...it was an unplanned event, everyone was drinking and having fun ( I was having fun and not drinking This morning when I woke up I opened one eye and thought to myself..."ok, how badly am I hung over? " Then I happily I thought "oh yeah, I didnt drink...so not at all!" Funny how things are such a habit eh? I used to always wake up after these nights and 'access' my damage. LMAO

Yeah, I'd prop myself up on one elbow, try to recall the events of the night before, cotton in my mouth. Sometimes still dressed, a drink by my side. In the end, wouldn't even try alka seltzer or aspirin, just went straight for my "cure" - a nice, cold beer. Breakfast of Champions. Serious drinking would come later, but that'd get me back on my feet. Thanks for the memories, Restless.

I still hang around drinkers, even when they are drinking. Yeah, I know that's not the greatest of ideas. But one benefit is just as you said, I am able to experience the pain of drinking again first hand vicariously through them. I don't enjoy watching them suffer, but it is a valid reminder of why I am remaining sober.
