Where are you from?

I'm consistently amazed by technology, and the fact that people all over the world can come together and share with one another. Cyber friends I have made here have become very important to me, and a big part of my recovery. Please share where you are from, and a little something about your part of the world, if you'd like.

I'm in the province of Ontario, in Canada. We are known for cold winters and hot summers, high taxes, and beautiful northern landscapes. Think moose, deer, mosquitos so big they will carry you away, and cottaging by the lake.

Who wants to go next?

Thanks Rowan, I love threads like this where we can learn a little more about each other.

I'm from Highland Park, Illinois, but I moved to the Phoenix area in 1970. From 90-93 I lived near Boston, MA. Life brought me back to Phoenix, so I guess that pretty much makes me a native.

Yes, it gets very hot in the summer here, but normally the weather is very nice for about 8 months every year. Most people don't know this, but it does snow here, but it's rarely cold enough for it to stick to the ground. Arizona is a beautiful state with mountains and forests in the higher elevations. The only thing it lacks is an ocean, but we're still hoping for that big earthquake to bring us beachfront property!

Fredericksburg, Va. hotter then hades right now.... pushing 100 degrees today. A beautiful part of the US as long as one stays away from the congestion up near DC. Va. is a great place for the outdoors, salt & fresh water fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, the beach and the winters are usually not real bad.

The heat is GROSS here, Scott. It's not dry heat like you have in AZ, it's dripping with humidity. Makes me very tired and cranky - yes, more than usual!

My Heart Is With The Ocean

I am grew up in Palm Beach county Florida. My heart will always be there.
I am sure everyone associates Palm Beach with the rich and beautiful. The Donald has alot of property there.
For me it is paradise. The beaches are gorgeous and the perfect place to go when life gets you down. Sitting by the water and just staring into the horizen is so peacful.
It is hotter than heck 10 months out of the year. But I miss it alot.
Now I am in upstate Ny. Alot different than what I am use to. But where it lacks an ocean. It makes up in mountains. Beautiful clean fresh air mountains. Most people think of the city when you say NY. Never been there. Have no interest in going.
Believe it or not. I hate congestion.
In my opinion it is hotter here in the summer than Florida ever is.
I do miss being in the tropical setting alot. Ezpecially since the ocean is vital to me sometimes. But there are things here that bring me peace and serenity.

Hey Rowan. Nice thread. I currently live in the historic town of Vicksburg, Mississippi. The original name of the town was Noga'les (Spanish for walnuts) because of the vast number of Black Walnut trees that adorned the territory.

The city overlooks the mighty Mississippi River. A fact that played a pivotal role role in the Civil War way back in the mid 1860's. There is a National Memorial Park here that see about 1.5 to 2 million visitors each year..

Highway 61 runs north and south through the city and is considered the Blues Highway.

And it is hot here as well. The usual term is 95 - 95 (95 degrees F - 95% Relative Humidity). Winters are very pleasant.

Most of the houses here in the city, where I live, were built at the turn of the last century. In fact, the house that houses the restaurant in which I manage, was built in 1880 and is listed as one of the top 1,000 places to see in the world.

And as far as Mississippi goes, some little known folks such as Elvis Presley, Bo Didley, Snoop Dogg, Leah Anne Rhymes, James Earl Jones, Morgan Freeman and Oprah Winfrey are from the state. The list is much longer, but you get the idea.

Thank you for inquiring.

I moved to the Phoenix area from back east in 1989, love the heat...
So like Astro, I to am pretty much a native!

I truly love the Sonoran Desert's stunning sunsets & towering Saguaros!
You can drive north a couple hours to Sedona, Flagstaff or go all the way north the the Grand Canyon. If you have never done it...put it on your bucket list!!!

Here is the view from my backyard, which I really enjoy sober now...
never tried to post a picture here, lets see.

ohh, i used to deliver for DHL in greeley!! that's so funny! g-town... man! yeah, colorado gets 300 days of sunshine a year...

i'm in charlotte (hott? yes. 110 degree heat index today) currently, in north carolina. but, before that i lived in ft. collins, colorado which is maybe 20-25 minutes north of greeley. beautiful little city, right in the foothills. before that, i lived in treasure island, florida. for real, treasure island. it was right outside st. petersburg, a little man-made island. really mellow, but really really humid and hot and full of giant florida bugs. boo that. before THAT, i was from new jersey. i was born in morristown, NJ, which is northern jersey for those not in the know. my mom moved away, but my dad stuck around and so did her side of the family, so i visited nj a lot growing up.

there ya have it! jeep, i can't believe you live in greeley! my best friend sam just moved there for work (he drives for fedex). oh man... what a trip!

I like this. Well I grew up just about 10 minutes north of Boston and now I live closer to the NH border and commute downtown by train every day. It's very expensive to live in Boston these days so north for me it is. I think about half of my life takes place in Boston and the other half outside of it. It's hot here again today, upper 90s and very humid like it is other places... but they say the heat wave is going to break today. It seems that people are always surprised how small Boston really is. My favorite thing here is that the city is very clean and you can pretty much walk everywhere.

I'm from Seattle, Washington - USA

It is nice and green here year round. Right now we are trying to finish a seemingly endless windy and wet winter - ultimatum, posted from Portland, is going through the same thing.

Lots of mountains, outdoor activities and in my opinion an all around nice place to live.
