I'm way west of you...Lake of the Woods (near the Manitoba and Minnesota borders). I have been to Barrie (nephew lives there) and Muskoka - very similar landscape - awesome.

Mosquitos, wasps, hornets, bumble-bees (technical name I'm sure ), dragon flies (good bugs - eat mosquitos), regular flies, ants, moths (some big ones but not palmetto size), spiders, and the dreaded...

Pine beetle (sorry if I'm creeping you out Rowan)!

These guys hang around your deck, fast as lightning, stick to your back and (if you are like my wife, Scott) make you run abound screaming "get it off me! get it off me!".

I'm sure that I'm missing many..these are the ones that come to mind. Oh, and it's not like there is this big swarm of bugs following me everywhere I go (or is there? hmmm...). They mainly keep to their own (except for the mosquitos).

Was born in a place called Ayr, raised in a classy () place called Clydebank in the west of Dunbartonshire (sounds lovely if you're not from here, it isn't though) - just a boot in the arse away from Glasgow.

Now stay back in Glasgow having lived and worked in many places around the UK and in Europe - particularly during my drinking days where I sort of tended to travel the globe, picking up skills here and there (not all of them useful, or even healthy).

Glasgow, Scotland, was shanghaied to Canada-Toronto, then Detroit when I was a wee lad, have lived here ever since, currently residing on Grosse Ile. SurlyRedhead can probably figure out what I'm talking about, have been moving further and further south since I met ex-wife 2, first Melvindale, then Wyandotte, then Gibraltar, then over the bridge to the island, may be going back across to Gibraltar. It probably wasn't the best idea, but you can see the attraction of my current place:

Over my lifetime I have lived in many of our states, partly from my daddy's job changes and partly from being married to Air Force and partly from Alkie Geographics, lol.

I have lived here in NM since 1989 and LOVE IT. It is almost my "ideal" place to spend the rest of my life and it probably is where I will, unless.......................................I can get my health a wee bit better (enough so for a very big move) and then I would move in an instant to:

Alice Springs, Australia

Yes, my friends down under, that is where I REALLY WANT TO BE. I long to return there, very BADLY, and if HP is willing, I just might yet!

It's desert, but it does get it's 'rainy' season. There are wonderful stations (ranches) outside of town, where you can find sheep, camels, and Arabian Horses. Yes, many of the camels in Saudia Arabia today come from stations around Alice Springs. Also, they have some of the most beautiful Arabians I have ever seen.

Alice itself is about 32,000 people with all the amenities and ROOM. Even in town, the houses have ROOM between them.

Of Course, I have ALWAYS loved Australia. It is a country about the size of the US but has a total population a little over 21 million. We here in the US are n
