| :This is precisely the kind of me me me BS that is pushing me out the door here. No-one died and made me anything BF. I'm not the one telling people where they can and can't post. I'm not going to ignore anyone if I think I can help, even if they do hijack a thread. Believe or not, I believe we're here to help others even more than we are to help ourselves. I'll happily ignore all your threads from now on D Quote:

I remember once when I was young and a single parent raising my kids by myself. I was severely depressed and often felt suicidal. The guilt I had over my husband's suicide was paralyzing me. I picked the kids up from school and was crying and barely able to stay alive. I was driving them home and suddenly saw a young man lying down in the middle of the road. He fell off his bike and seemed mildly mentally retarded. He did not get up so I assisted him and convinced him to get moving and get out of the street and get to safety. When I got back into the car I noticed I felt so much better than I had before this happened. Helping someone else also helped me. That young man hijacked the street that day and I was so thankful I never forgot that day 25 years ago. It was a lesson in life I learned. If I had honked my horn or driven around him that day I may have never learned that lesson.

Butterfly, The way to forgive yourself is to make amends and to never let it happen again. Some have mentioned the Steps. Others may think of a priest or a minister to confess to, in order to gain forgiveness, which will lead to self forgiving. Someone did mention G*D's forgiveness. There is no concept of "sin" in Judaism. What Christians call "sin" we call "missing the mark." Think of it as an archer, who misses the target, ok? What does the archer do? They try again. And they keep trying, until they get it right; until they hit the bulls eye. Teshuva, turning around, is what we do. When we miss the mark, we turn around and try again, until we hit that bulls eye. Then, we are living as G*D wants us to live. Many believe that confession to another person heals the soul. That's what therapy is about. That's what sponsors are for too, in a 12 Step program. Or a priest/minister in Christianity. But, you can confess to G*D. Make it real; promise to make teshuva -- to turn around. And keep trying until you are capable of never ever doing the same type of thing again. Then, you are in G*D's grace. Then, there is the peace of self forgiveness. G*D loves you, Butterfly. And so do we. ![]() You are a strong woman. ![]() Shalom!

Again, let's get back on track and focus on Butterfly and her issues. And, let's think about Morning Glory's post, and that we can learn something in the most unexpected situations. Keep an open mind.

Dear Butterfly: The Bible says that when we ask..(and I know you have from previous posts) for forgiveness...that God removes (sin) from us as far as the East is from the West. I like the way Historyteach puts it...the older Bible scripts do decsribe (sin) as "missing or veering from the mark"... This is what I had to do myself....really. It might help you as well... Affirm to yourself...whenever you think of those sordid things from the past... Say aloud..."God! Thank You that You have removed all these things from me as far as the East is from the West!" Folks might hear and think you are nuts..but who cares? When I did that...a peace came into my soul...when I began to affirm that forgiveness for that that I had asked..and that He had promised... Remember dear Butterfly... God is no respector of persons...He does not esteem (anyone) higher or lower than anyone else. We are the same..dearest children in His sight and in His providence and loving care. We sure love you...I do. Start loving yourself....I know the Father does. ![]() IO
