Hello, I'm new...

I'm not sober or clean yet but I hope you'll accept me.

It's taken me quite a while to admit, even to myself, that I am an addict.

I am an addict.

I'm addicted to cocaine and abuse several other drugs (mainly Valium).

I've come here to seek advice and help without the fear of being discovered or judged harshly.

I'm not sure what else to say so I'll leave it at that.

Hi Harry,

Big Welcome!

I'm glad you found us and I'm glad you've admitted to yourself that you are an addict.

You'll find that we don't judge people and you can be as anonymous as you like.

Red face

I also was a Cocaine addict since the age of 14 till Last year so Yeah:
It too k a while to Admit that I had a problem,But By the Grace
of God I God that I made it there are those unfortunate
that don't make it Back that is a harsh reality that we as Addict
sometimes we don't want to see or never the less admit

Now I hated it I can't stand the site of it It's funny cause
It was my number one Love I love it more then Life It self
just to think!how much in-love I was with it to know now
I Hated because It didn't tell me It was going to hurt me
or hurt the people I love or blind me to the point that I was going
to loose everything and It didn't aware me of It's effects no knowledge whats so ever and that It was going to affect my cells
and that later in life I was going to have a chemical In-balance
call Bipolar so Yeah some thing that I once Love so much I Hate it
with a Passion

my advice Don't wait to long to leave it too It's not worth it
I'm not going to tell u what to do nor judge you but It's your life
and you only Got one so be Easy and God Bless you!!!!!
and

Hi Harry - SR has been a miracle for me, I'm so glad you found us. It might be a bit quiet here tonight, but more people will be along tomorrow. I read and posted here for 5 months before laying down the alcohol, and no one asked me if I was sober or told me to go away because I hadn't quit yet. This is an amazing group of people with very diverse backgrounds. Every one of them, in their own way, have helped me on my journey. The fact that I can be honest without fear of being judged is a blessing. No one else in my life really understands where I've been and what I go through on a daily basis to stay sober. Please keep coming back & posting. Love, Joanie

Thank you for all the replies.

I've spent the past two days looking for places like this online and SR seems like the best so far.

Butterfly: I also have bipolar disorder. It's a mild form with a name I've forgotten how to spell but it begins with 'C'. I think it's linked with my usage.

Hevyn: I'm glad to hear of your recovery. I don't plan to stop cold turkey anytime too soon but if the people here are willing to give me a chance then I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks again for the kind welcomes.

I'll probably be online most of the day as I just can't sleep right now so I'll be trying to offer my (probably useless) advice to others as well as seeking help myself.

I do have a question, though...

What is the best forum to talk about problems with my girlfriend and her own substance abuse problems and mental health issues? She has recently made two suicide attempts (both ending in hospitalisation) and it's a lot of strain to deal with on top of my own problems. In fact, it's led to quite a large increase in my usage of cocaine and various other substances in order to be on call for her all hours of the night and day.

Welcome to SR Harry, I am an alkie who found recovery in AA, about the only suggesstions I could make that may help you (You will not be judged in either place is you may want to try NA (Narcotics Anonymous) for your drug problem and NA's equivelant of Alanon for helping you with your gf.

You have my support and prayers.

Welcome, Harry

This is a good place to be. I know of no other place quite like it. What you say here is taken seriously and while people might question you, it is out of caring and experience.

I look forward to sharing in your journey.
