day 2 for me! I am crawling forward right now.....but it is better than running backwards in the wrong direction , but addiction sure hurts sometimes, hurts bad. Glad to see everyone is progressing!

Day 35, so I get through today and I'll have 5 weeks sober. Not sure what else to add, sticking to my simple plan, don't drink, get some exercise, get to a meeting, eat properly, lots of non-alcoholic beverages, stay occupied. I had a few rough patches but so far so good.

I hope everyone is having a good sober day today.

Hey everybody! Glad to see so many of you hanging in there! Doing well here.

Last week, my dad and sister had birthdays, so I took them out for dinner last night. It was funny, but my sister and her husband (both 'normal' drinkers) seemed to have more of a problem drinking in front of me than I did with it. Didn't bother me a bit. I guess it's good to know they care, but situations like that make me fearful of telling people that I don't drink anymore.

Today marks 4 weeks (28 days) for me. I am going to start recovery with a new vengeance starting today. I've seen a lot of posts about complacency happening at this time, and I can already start to feel it. I'm still going strong.

It's really inspiring to read everyone's success. I got through day one today. White knuckled the whole way. Tomorrow I'm off to see my sponsor, so I'll be back in the program.

I could use some prayers and good vibes my way. Thanks for any you can spare!

Today is day 38. Not much to report, sticking to the plan, trying to ignore the cravings when they come.

I seem to be eating constantly, need to get this under control or I will be trading one problem for another. Thanks to getting a lot of exercise I am only up a couple pounds but I had really hoped to go the other way.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Steamvessel: I know what you're going through. After I hit that 30 day mark, that little voice in my mind said "See, you made 30 days sober, you're not an alcoholic". Thanks to Gravity at that time for reminding me why I quit in the first place.

NM: Well, I just picked up an extra bag of good vibes at the store the other day, so here you go!

~~~~~~GOOD VIBES~~~~~~
Last Call: I know what you mean about the weight. I guess I've replaced the alcohol calories, with snack calories. I've started walking a couple of miles a day about a month ago. Haven't weighed myself since I've started, but hopefully I lost a few.
relapse
Hey everyone. Day 47 for me!! I'm stoked.
NM: I just finished reading Beautiful Boy, by David Sheff. Sheff relates the story of his son's addiction, funny, sad, touching .... In it he talks about the fact that for many people relapse is part of recovery. A very dangerous part. We all have to just do the best we can from where we are. After a relapse, I get all collapsed in shame, which keeps me stuck and makes it more likely that I'll continue to drink. So, please allow yourself some forgiveness and compassion.
Peace,
Jana
Day 43 for me!
A bit pissed off at 2 of my kids who want to hang with friends and skip Mother's Day dinner. So as usual on Mother's Day, I cook and clean so my wife can take the day off and putter in her studio. Need to let it go I guess. Not worth drinking over that's for sure.
How's everybody doing?
good work, everyone
Hey there, peeps! How was everyone's Mother's Day?
Super--I admire your equanimity in the face of hubby's drinking. I think that would **** me off royally. Which wouldn't help anything, of course.
LC--right on. Just let it all go. And breathe. And good for you for letting your wife putter. That's a real gift.
I ran out of my meds, and so didn't sleep much. But I'm ready to move forward with my day--and daughter number one is stressing because I haven't made her smoothie ...
Peace,
Jana
Day 35 for me. Didn't really come too close to relapsing this weekend, but the thought definately did cross my mind on Saturday when I was fighting some serious depression. I ended up taking some Nyquil and going to bed, I know a lot of you probably consider that cheating, or a bad idea, but It's not something I do regularly, and I'm not going to wake up the next day thinking I want more Nyquil. Anyways, I couldn't sleep last night and didn't take anything, but instead stayed awake until 4:30, so I'm a little tired this morning. Doing well though.
Day 45.
Sometimes it seems like I read the posts on here and everyone is slipping or in a crisis of some kind. I have to not get too caught up in this virtual drama, or use other's slips to "justify" my own.
Anyway I am doing fine. Hoping to make a meeting this evening.
I hope everyone is doing well.
Hey everyone, just wanted to check in and say hi (still reading just about everyday, just haven't been posting as much).
Things are going pretty good here. Up to day 115 (I think), and really can't remember the last time I had an 'urge'. Though, I'm kinda nervous about that because Thursday I have a meeting with the DA regarding getting into the first time offender program for my DUI. Trying to let my HP take control, but I fear if it goes bad, I might need to plan a route home that doesn't go near a bar or beer store.
It's good to see so many of you all still at it. Helps me to keep going too!
Day 48, tomorrow makes 7 weeks.
Everything is going pretty well. Nothing I can't handle.
How is everyone else doing?
