I've made it 2 whole days without a drink! I really wanted one last night, and I really didn't know what to do with myself when I got bored with the computer. So, you know what I did??? I colored! It was actually quite therapeutic.

Congratulations Time4change!!
Sobereye...wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you....keep reading, keep posting. Paige...hang in there...it's great that you have picked yourself up and started again.
I've had a MUCH better day. Just one moment when I went into a garage and they sell wine. Got angry that I couldn't have any...whine winge...then told myself to get over myself: there are people who can't have all sorts of things...sometimes just because they have no money and live in another part of the world.
Had a really good therapy session today and felt much more peaceful. Then I went to play with one of my horses who was just lovely and really responded to my calmer state.

Thinking of you all:

GG

Hey everyone, sounds like you have all been doing really great. WELL DONE!!

Golden Girl, your partner sounds like she is going to be behind you, that's great, it's hard for 'normal drinkers' to totally understand I think. My partner is so supportive, but still doesn't quite 'get it' - I can't have just one or two...(even though he has seen some things that make me cringe with shame!)

Day 8 for me too. Am doing fine..but can't kick the chocolate and need to lose weight... Eating issues (too much or too little) and spending (wow - did I get in mess with that one at one time) are - or have been - kinda 'secondary addictions' for me, so need to get hold of this.

Catch up soon.

Chocolate is my new master and I'm not even going to tell you what I spent money on. If chocolate and spending are addictions then I'm still using.

Welcome back Kickit...good to hear from you again.
Chocolate....spending...now where have I heard that before?????
My partner does understand that I can't have just one drink. It's me that has the problem with accepting her help. She is great and I'm blessed to have her.
I'm off to bed now...long day training tomorrow....but at least I will be doing it with a clear head!

Hey Time;
I love love love to colour! I'm so happy to have a little girl so that I have an excuse now to buy colouring books and crayons! I agree, it is super theraputic!
Did you hang your picture on the fridge? lol

Hi Everyone.

I'm moving on to the 3 month and under board, but as always, I'll be checking in back here. I'm on day 15 today. I can tell you that I never would've made it without everyone's support. Thank you so much.

You can make this too. Check out my man, Kickit. Last week, he was saying No way he could do this. Now he's on day 8! Rock on, Kickit. I'm very proud of you. And of everyone here.

Keep it a day at a time. Get to bedtime, and worry about the next day later.

Thanks to everyone for the "welcomes." I'm going on 22 days now and I guess I'll be transferring to the 90 days or less thread now too. Just a few weeks ago staying sober three weeks seemed quite impossible, but now I really honestly feel like I can see this through...one day at a time.

I haven't really posted here very much, but I believe reading others' posts on this site has helped me quite a bit with my recovery so far.

Hi, actually I couldn't count yesterday, its day 10 today for me. Encouraging to see how well everyone is doing.

I am feeling very depressed, anxious and scared, it's been creeping up on me the past week. It's not withdrawal or even alcohol related as such although I know alcohol is a depressant and can affect mood and anxiety. We are going through a harsh time (long story) and my underlying problems are making things very very difficult for me to face and solve things. It's also very hard (and upsetting) facing those issues that have been around for along time and have grown and festered - the same ones I drink to 'make go away for awhile'.

Boo hoo me, yes I know there are plenty of people who have had it worse, have it worse etc etc....remember that programme 'Ally McBeal'? Someone asked Ally why her problems were so much worse than anyone elses, she said ;'because they are mine'!! Now I don't think I am a very selfish person (always the agony aunt - sometimes need to learn to put me first) but I can relate to that one at the moment!! Warren, get the boot out!!

Take care all - catch up later. Going off to move a load of bricks and rubble into the skip!

Hey Kickit, when you break your leg it is hard to imagine the pain of a broken back.....pain is pain is pain is pain...I'm thinking of you
It IS hard facing the stuff that caused us to turn to drink in the first place. Don't beat yourself up...go an hour at a time.

Kickit,
I remember that Ally moment, lots of wisdom in that show My favourite line right now is actually from the very first episode, something like "I'm finding out that, the more lost I am, the closer I get to home" or something to that effect.

I can relate to the depression and generally low mood. It should get better with time. I don't know about you but a lot of stuff piled up on my doorway while I was busy drinking; now that I've stopped, I have a huge mess to sort out (namely, my entire life). But when I'm feeling really down about this, I remember to take it one moment at a time, and that the worst part is now over: it's all uphill from now on, yes, but at least my heart feels lighter.

GG, good to see you're doing good

Take care

Matt

Hi all!
This is my 7th day without a single drink, and i am amazed that i have got this far! Feeling irritable, and really really tired for some reason, but i'm gonna keep going and hopefully make it to 2 weeks! Now that would be a miracle

I am keeping myself to myself at the moment, not seeing any of my friends, which is hard, but i don't want to put myself in any situation where i might be EVEN MORE tempted to drink.. hope i don't become too lonely! My friends are all big drinkers. Oh well, sobriety first and all that!

Kickit you hit on something that kept me drinking for a long time. I knew everyone had it worse then me because I heard there storys. Even people who didn't drink or use drugs had it worst then me so what was my problem? My problem was and is I Love to get drunk. It does things for me that it doesn't do for "normal" people.

Don't waste time comparing. You are messed up just the way you are.

We are out there Kickit.
