do i have a prob

new to this. Never posted anything like this. I find myself going out a couple of times a month and getting so drunk that i act ridiculous and come home really late after blacking out. Could I be an alcoholic? Dont want just a few, i drink a couple of bottles of wine.

WELCOME ROXIJAMES!

From what you have posted, it seems to me that you are on the right site. I choose not to say that I have a problem. I have a disease. I am so grateful that there are unlimited resources available to alcoholics/addicts today. This site being one. You're in the right place.

There seem to be alot of misconceptions about what makes someone an alcoholic/addict. You mentioned that you drink only a few times a month but when you do it results in blackouts and crazy behaviors. If you choose to go to meetings I'm sure you'll find alot of others who didn't drink every day. Is this your first time reaching out? I was comforted in meetings by finding out that so many others shared the same thoughts, feelings, hopes, dreams as I did. As well as the fears, guilt and shame that I thought I was the only one feeling. I was not alone!

Again, welcome! Keep coming back!

....yes first time reaching out. I am such a social perosn i just see it as a huge lifestyle change.... to jus say no.. I do not behave outragous each time i have wine... just when I am out with the girls. I am not trying to excuse behavior, I know it is a problem..... I just wish I would drink a reasonable amount EVERY time I choose to drink... does that make sense?

It makes too much sense to me--in fact, I tried it over & over again many times (without success).
