Newcomer Me.
Sorry for the caveman like title. I am trying to be proactive. I am new to recovery I have 30 days clean. My Drug was Tramadol/Ultram. I tried to kick alone...but that didnt really work. I got so I guess what you would call dope sick. Pain upon pain and sickness and feeling like I wanted to die.
I am also a Nurse, but I went to my company for help first..(which I cant believe I did is spite of my Addiction and being deep in it.)
I took Subutex for the withdraw for 5 days. And now they have me on a Clonidine patch.
What is helping me most is my IOP three nights a week and I am hitting weekend meetings. Talking and letting feelings out and discussing my addiction makes me feel better.
I am trying to get a sponser so I can work my steps. I am Sam and I am an addict but with any help with my addiction I could be an Alcoholic or anything else it let me be. This is my first time in recovery and I feel good typing this...I love messege boards...Hello.

Hi Sam,
Me Rowan, alkie/pill addict. Ha - just going with your caveman theme.
I'm so glad that you decided to join us, and just wanted to say welcome to our recovery community. There is a great substance abuse forum here, too. I go to meetings also, and attend relapse prevention twice weekly (which is like IOP).
I hope you are able to get a sponsor soon - maybe a temporary one until you do?
Congratulations on your clean time!

Aye
Great to hear that your getting help and that your job has supported you. I've been to IOP plenty of times and got a great deal of strength from sharing with people of a like mind. I graduated..lol..treatment 60 days ago and continued going to AA (although a heroin addict its where I find the message) and have remained clean! Best wishes and Congrats
glad you came and posted, sam. sounds like you are already taking some real positive steps in your recovery. congrats!
we accept all alkis, addicts, codependents, and cavemen - so it's your lucky day! (ha)
keep posting! k

Thanks for the Welcome...Arggg...wait thats a pirate...hmmm. Its nice to be sober but there is some crappy days. Also...Now that I am clear headed. I realize I was also drinking an enormous amount. That and my addiction totally made me forget that I had been around drugs and alcohol almost since I was 13. Christ....I am 32 now.
