| Smart Recovery
I was told that there was a program called Smart Recovery. Could anybody fill me in on their experiences or thoughts about it? Also send me in the right direction. At least I can look into it. I tried AA a few times in the past & wanted to look at other options as well. Until then guess what?........I am going to an AA meeting tonight before work!!!! You can call me a slow learner! Ha! Thanks. |

Hi Vance, Here is a link to the Smart Recovery website. http://www.smartrecovery.org/ Lots of info, message boards, etc. I looked there myself, but need to stick with one program. AA or bust! Let us know what you think of Smart!

I go to Smart. It is pretty cool. They have online meetings everyday. Lots of tools and message boards. But know it is all a self help program. There are people there to help you along. But it is up to you to use what they have to offer.

I will have to dig into it a little deeper. I did however attend a meeting tonight & there were 6 of us including myself. I know I got trouble facing me ahead with my DUI & want to continue this road of recovery. I felt like I went to the meeting with the best intentions. I just need to find a "home" meeting & start getting into the Big Book. I work a weird 7 day southern swing schedule & would like to hit some same meetings consistently. Not use my schedule as an excuse & get to know some familiar faces. |

Not sure if this in that link, but there is also a program called 'Rational Recovery'. I got a few of their books some time ago. One of the authors is a Jack Trimpey. Amazon.com carries a couple of the books. In all honesty, though, I did not get much out of them. It doesn't matter (to me, at least) what works for you, as long as you find something that does. My best to you. Keep posting!. BHJ
