| Just for today, soberity is my goal because -
Because I feel so much healthier, and I can face life better sober. Why do you want to stay sober today?

Because I know that any sense of purpose and usefulness that I feel in this moment would disappear with the first drink, the first pill, the first line, the first hit. I have received many gifts and blessings in sobriety that I know would disappear upon picking up. That's not something I'm willing to risk over a feeling that is transient at best. Why do i want to stay sober today? Because it's that important to me that I do so. Years ago my life was unmanageable. I was a mess. I did things that I soon regretted. I was ashamed of. Today I don't have to feel that way. Today life is simplier, which is what I want. Complicating my life was more work than i needed. SIMPLICITY...I like that word. : ) I like and im learning to love myself more today. I'm.... WORTH IT....SELF WORTH APPRECIATION....Today I appreciate things, people, places just as they are suppose to be. And most of all.... Today I have a FAITH more stronger than it ever was....not that I never had it....its just stronger and more meaningful today for me. My BELIEF in a POWER GREATER THAN i today can guide me, protect me and comfort me and give me the STRENGTH I need to stay sober ODAAT. Thanks for a wonderful topic BrandiK... And thanks for letting me share my own ESH.

Because I have a light in my eye again and I don't ever want that to fizzle out again... but that is only 1 of the many reasons.. I think I'll have to make my post a continuation throughout the day.

Because i know i am happier today than i have ever been before in my life. Because i know as soon as i take that first drink i am powerless and the cycle will start all over. Because i know, that maybe next time i won't make it back.
