Hi my name is Sharon and im an Alcoholic. By the grace of my HP and people like you here in SR I have had a drink of alcohol since 8-11-90. For that im truely grateful. So what would you rather have in recovery... Quality of time sober or clean? Or Quantity of time sober or clean? One can have may yrs sober or clean and slip for no apparant reason unless the quality of his or hers recovery is strong. You hear in ur meetings how those with a few yrs slip or 10 yrs or maybe 25 yrs..... get drunk or use.... How does that make u feel when u hear that? For me im stunned, because i cant fathom some one who has stayed sober for as long as they have just throw it all away. Was it because they were complacant? or they were in a bad spot? Had a fight? Arguement? or maybe they thought they were cured.... Ive learned that if u dont crawl before u walk in recovery then u will fall. Or if u dont build a strong foundation in recovery then ur building will crumble. For me taking my time in recovery is insuring me that if there comes a time where im not at my best or something ruffles my feathers then i will be prepared as to know what to do. And that is to use the knowledge and tools that was taught to me over the yrs and esp. in early recovery. So quality of recovery is more important to me than quantity. What is it for you?

No brainer (which is good for me;-) Quality by all means. I may have less than two years, but my life in AA is richer than I ever dreamed was possible. Nothing makes me happier than attending meetings, doing service work, and spending time with people in the Fellowship. What makes all that even better is that my children enjoy most of it with me. Am I a lucky father or what? OK, I'm on a pink cloud, and this too shall pass, but for the moment I'm really loving the quality of my sobriety!

Evening Sharon...GREAT question... I agree with Astro. It has to be quality. I only have two weeks but I feel a million times better than I did the day I quit... I know it only gets better... One day at a time. Steve

Welcome to SR Michael. Glad ur here. 2 days is a good start to ur recovery. Counciling sounds like some good advice to begin with and add some AA meetings right near to where u live. Hearing others speak just like u and i gives us hope to stay sober one more day. KEEP COMING BACK.
