Midwest, sorry to hear about the family shenanigans, aren't you glad you are not adding to it any more! You are doing the right thing by stepping back and keeping your head down, there will be no communicating with him until he has stopped his binge.
FBL, it's good you have such wonderful memories of your father.
Sass, in her latter years, my nan finally agreed to have a home help come in to clean twice a week... My nan would tidy up before the woman arrived so nan wasn't accused of keeping a dirty house!!!

Toots, from what I've heard, many people do exactly what your Nan did and as I do

I'm having a good day today. Not nearly as hot as it's been, good day for dog walks.
Right now, both dogs are lying next to each other on the rug in my den. Looking at them lying there peacefully makes me feel so good. I am tickled pink to be sober to take good care of them.

I'm sorry your husband decided to jump off the wagon Midwest. Well done staying away from the drama. Maybe seeing him act the fool will actually further strengthen your resolve to never go back to drinking .

Morning overs, hope you're managing the weather. I'm sat in my living room with the big cylinder fan on and I put a cold 'hot water bottle' in my bed before I go, keeps it nice and chilled.
Least, I love the satisfaction too, of being sober to care for my pet and now, my plants. I'm so happy the pleasure you get from your dogs. They're family aren't they. I always remember your saying from when I first visited this site. It always touched my heart. "I'd rather live in my car with my dogs than in a castle without them" love it.♥️

Mags, I had to drive hubby thru to Edinburgh to catch the milk train ( as used to be called!) didn't get much sleep through the night anyway though.
Sass, isn't it funny how we women hate to think we might be judged on the state of our homes! It's the same with food; when we have visitors, I keep enough stock to feed a marching army, I couldn't bear for someone to leave hungry!
FBL, will you tell these celebs to space their departures a little better? I never even got to see the first dead guy before the next one came along. It's incredibly selfish of them! Now I will have to google him! ( actually I will have to google both as I've not heard of the second chappie either, I guess he never made it across the pond, or was a little before my time.
