Cheers for Venuscat Part Four
It's awesome sitting outside and having the squirrels all around me.
They're coming pretty close now, especially the one that just fell off the feeder, and then calmly sat on the ground eating the peanut he dropped.
This one was shy though....looks to me like he was thinking "please go away"

I'd never even heard of them before Mags.....I had been told that the birds here were magnificent, but this is beyond my wildest dreams.
And thank you my love. Yes, finally, after all these years on this journey I am ready to do this....I am EXCITED about this course.
So, some drama today.....earlier a squirrel shattered our lovely lantern, not great, but not terrible because the squirrel wasn't hurt. And then just now a bird flew into the glass door. Our feeder is nowhere near the door, so it wasn't anyone's fault; these birds just play so aggressively. I saw the poor thing lying on the step and grabbed some paper towels....I thought I was going to have to wrap him up and find a vet....but as soon as I picked him up he squawked and flew away. Sigh of relief....I guess he didn't break his wing. He was probably just in shock. Hopefully he will survive.

I certainly hope that Sandhill Cranes and Eagles aren't prone to crashing into Windows!!!!!
Suze, the birds flying into the glass will happen from time to time. Usually they just are a bit stunned. The window magnets Kris mentioned should help.
Me and my brother spotted a beautiful Oriole in his backyard on Saturday. They are VERY shy birds and the about the only way to attract them is with jelly and/or oranges. I was going to snap a photo, but he flew away too quickly.
Here's a YouTube vid that will give you an idea of what we saw:
