Angie 247's thread - This new sober life Part 5
Hope you can get some sleep.....remember what a huge stress lack of sleep is amongst all the rest of the stuff you are dealing with right now.
More hugs. Goodnight love. ♥
Angie!!
So glad that you poured it out. Drinking always seems the easy way out, but it never helps us at all in dealing with life.
Sometimes I feel as though you are walking a tightrope on a windy day. Do you have a recovery plan in place? Tools in place in your sober toolbox?
I don't think that any of us can white knuckle this disease. We need support mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually.
You have a beautiful child and you are a wonderful, caring mother. Where does alcohol fit into that equation? Play the tape forward in your mind what will happen if you drink again. I am being blunt because we were classmates and always will be. Angie, you need to not want to drink more than anything else in the world. You can not be the best mom if you drink. You can not be a good worker if you drink. You can not be happy if you drink.
There are a lot of resources here on SR like 24 hour threads and chat rooms that I don't know if you have availed yourself too. There are lots of great books and wonderful people here on SR. Use the tools around you to build a stronger sober foundation for your life. You don't want to lose everything in the next wind storm.

Angie I'm so glad you poured it out.
I'm worried for you tho.
I think it would be worth your while to find some other ways to deal with stress - you were big on exercise there for a while - did you stop that?

Thank you so much Dee. I have SR and the amazing people here because I'm still sober. I have other issues that are being addressed but thank God that I'm still sober and I have all of you to thank for it.
Sending you love honey.....let us know how you are. Text me if you need me....thinking of you love. ♥
Hugs Angie!
Like Dee said, being a diabetic is a very manageable condition these days, as is dealing with your thyroid. Though scary, it is good that you had these issues diagnosed. Controlling your diabetes will help control some of your emotional swings that are caused by blood sugar levels bouncing around wildly.
It may not seem so in the moment, but you will likely look at today as being a major turning point in your battle with alcohol. Diabetics shouldn't drink, and that gives yourself another reason to avoid alcohol at all costs. You will feel more stable emotionally after your sugars are controlled.
You got this lady!

Angie - Thanks for checking in with us! I'm sorry to hear you're in the hospital, but it's the right place to get medial issues addressed! I hope you are put and all is stabilized soon.
I've found that the people I surround myself with in recovery are much better picks for friends, including all of you. I'm glad you're finding the same to be true for you.
