As bad as last Monday's workout was, that's how good this morning's was.

2 sets of the usual warmup:

30 jumping jacks
20 squats
10 pushups

3 rounds of:

Lat pulldowns
Bosu ball pushups with knee thrusts
Db squat presses
Db curls
Planks
Seated rows
Bench dips
Ab wheel rollouts

All sets were between 10 and 15 reps and the planks were for 90 seconds.

My wife and I are going to take advantage of the sunshine this afternoon and walk for a few miles with our dog.

Dinner tonight is going to be shrimp burgers with a salad and baked sweet potato fries.

This morning I took a 1.5 mile roundtrip walk to meet a friend for breakfast and afterward went on a 3.5 mile run. 37F and raining so it wasn't the most pleasant conditions, but I'm glad I went.

Dinner tonight is going to be lemon chicken leg quarters, a salad, and a to be determined grain.

Exercise for the day is going to be a strength and stamina class at 6:30 tonight.

As I've done most of the time since I've started taking the above mentioned Wednesday classes I'll be bringing my slow cooker up from the basement and for dinner tonight I'll be serving Irish Beef Stew. I've made this recipe a couple of times since my wife and I were in Ireland in October and both times it's gotten wife's Seal of Approval for its authenticity so I'm expecting similar kudos for tonight's dinner.

I'm writing this due to something I read on SR about another family that is finding harmony, peace, and love in their lives.

Last night, as I do every night, I walked my dog. Unlike most of the year all four human members of the GC family were in the house and upon my return the other three human members (yes, the dog is a family member) were in the living room. The fire place was blazing, the sound system was cranking music, and they were all in the midst of laughing about a tale that one of them told. I just stood there in the doorway to the room with a huge involuntary grin on my face marveling about how fortunate I am to be living the life that I am.

I had a make up session with my trainer this morning.

2 warm up rounds of:

30 jumping jacks
20 squats
10 pushups

3 rounds of:

Bb incline bench presses
Db flyes
Bb skullcrushers
Bb curls
Push ups
Bicycles
Leg lifts
Crunches

My daughter is having oral surgery this afternoon so she won't be able to chew anything hard and she requested matzo ball soup for dinner. I made the soup yesterday and will make the matzo balls this afternoon. My son seized the opportunity to ask for tacos so tonight's dinner will be a rarity in that I'm making two different things.

File under "Why I Can Never Win".

I made the aforementioned Irish Beef Stew for dinner last night and as we're eating it there were these unsolicited comments:

Wife: This is fantastic!
Daughter: It's okay, but I'm not really a stew person
Son: Me neither.

Thank you SL. She's home now and resting so the worst is in the rear view mirror.

Regarding workouts, after the two poor ones last week on Monday and Wednesday, I've been on the right side of the bell curve since then. It's a nice place to be.

Have you been cleared to start exercising?

I have and I am - it feels great to be off the 'slug' bus.

Today is going to be a semi rest day. Planks, crunches, and gripper work at home.

Dinner plans are undecided. We may go out with some friends before we see a mutual friend's band play at a local tavern. If we don't go out for dinner then I'll cook the salmon fillet I bought this AM.

We went out for sushi last night before watching our friend's band. Tonight we're going to the house of one of my college roommates for dinner.

My wife and I were at the gym for 60 minutes this morning and will be there tomorrow AM.

Me, my wife, and daughter were at the gym this morning for a lower level strength and stamina class than the one we took yesterday. Actually, that's not entirely accurate as it's up to the individual to make decisions about what weights to use as well as the pace of the exercises. The biggest difference between the two classes is that this one is geared to people who may need some additional instruction, but for the people that the trainer is familiar with there's very little latitude so the workout for the three Seltzers was challenging.

Plans for the balance of the day include some house stuff and then football. For dinner I'm going to be grilling a salmon fillet. I'm not sure what the side dish(es) will be.

......three Seltzers....
I have NO idea why I wrote Seltzers at the end of my post yesterday although I was drinking a glass of said beverage while typing.

I'll soon be off to the gym for my regularly scheduled Monday morning session with my trainer and to the extent that I can remember what I did, I'll report back later today.

Thank you Dee. Yes, all is well and my daughter is recovering faster than anticipated from her oral surgery.

Yesterday

Yesterday got away from me, but I did make it to the gym for my normally scheduled session with my trainer

2 rounds of warm ups:

30 jumping jacks
20 squats
10 push ups

3 rounds of:

Kb goblet squats
Db reverse lunges
Db step ups
Incline crunches
Push ups
Planks

I think there was one more exercise in the mix, but I'm not sure and if so I can't remember it at the moment.

Today's going to be a semi rest day, but I'll still get about 20-30 minutes done at home.

Dinner tonight was a smorgasbord of chicken, beef, and vegetable leftovers.

My gym class was more challenging than normal for a Wednesday night and as the oldest person in attendance I showed those yungins how it's done. :-)

Exercise for the day will be a few miles of walking.

I'm not sure if what I'm making tonight for dinner has a name. I'm going to deseed and bake a spaghetti squash as well as separately roast the seeds. After removing the innards of the cooked squash I'm going to combine it with tomato sauce, the roasted seeds, ricotta cheese, and mozzarella cheese and bake until the cheeses are melted.
