No mojo for him,
But he doesn't drive me nuts.
Quite the opposite!
He was the first kid
To wish Happy Mothers' Day.
I give him thumbs up!
My husband is more
Bothered by his living style--
He hates laziness.
But he doesn't drive me nuts.

Other son surprised
Me by yelling through window
Will treat me to lunch.
He missed Mothers' Day
So he wants to make amends.
I'll eat on his dime!
Actually I'm honored--
He's the cheapest guy on earth!
Not that he's not kind.
He was 25
That's when husband cut him off
From the college funds
Had to sink or swim--
Destitute, he had to scrounge
Just to stay alive.
And that's what he did:
Job for his financial aid
Worked his hiney off.
Took a rented room
In a basement of a house
In winter the temp-
-Erature was
40 degrees because the
Thermostat was broke.
But it was dirt cheap
So he strived to be content
While he saved his dimes.
He graduated
Got promoted at his job
Pulled down higher pay
Got an apartment
With two bedrooms and a nice
Reliable car.
Now he wants a wife
But he hasn't found her yet
I hope he does soon.
As for lunch today,
He'll treat me and my husband,
But not one soul else!
That's how he made out:
He does not squander a bit!
Even cold showers!
I said "Don't render
Yourself unmarriageable!
Loosen up a bit!"
It was a surprise
To see him come through the door!
He lives far away.

Wow, how exciting!
Nine more days till you retire!
You're a short-timer!
Practice your loafing
Then practice your lounging skills
Make your wife fetch stuff!
Uh-oh, just kidding!
I don't want her to hit you
With a frying pan!

HELL HAS FROZEN STIFF!
"Homeless" son will groom himself
For a 9-5!
He will talk with folks
For my husband's company
But it won't be sales.
He is interested!
It will take a year to train
With a stellar guy.
Just like you, Zero,
He is planning to retire.
But he will kick back.
My son won't have time
To go back to college now.
That is fine with me.
I just want him back
In the land of the living!
And support himself.
At least now he will
Have a purpose for his mind!
Much too good to waste.
When he is ready
Later he can go through school--
He must want it, though.
I have an idea--
For now I'll get a brochure:
"Great Courses" series!
Buy one course for cheap
Take it for the joy of it
Just at your leisure.
It's not for credit;
Just for the joy of learning,
Which he likes to do.
Of course, I won't push--
Just slip under his door.
Fully his option.

Put your feet up and
Watch it blow up around you!
You are outta there!
My son's job's delayed;
They want real experience
Brownnose customer.
There's another job
That will open in the fall.
He can try for that.

there are always jobs
the unemployment rate is
the lowest in years
it's about what we're
willing to do for how much
and if we have skills
despite being a
drug-addled drunken damn freak
i've carried my weight
haven't asked for a
dime from parents or the man
since 19 years old
worked my way through school
and then did it again and
just kept doing it
now i can't not work
i don't look for work because
people come to me
it's a damn problem
i'm thinking i need to move
and pretend i'm dense
