24 Hour Recovery Connections Part 59
C2, The Harris Hawk is one of the birds that fly in the free flight program at our local zoo. Harris Hawks are pretty cool. The one who flies here is named Cisco. I'm not sure he knows that, but I do They hunt in a pack, unlike solitary raptors.

Brave bird who took on a mighty hawk...and won | UK | News | Daily Express
This tiny western kingbird tried to drive away a Harris hawk by repeatedly dive-bombing it. At one point it even hitched a lift by landing on the bigger bird’s back.
The showdown was spotted by photographer Gerardo Grassl, 22, on the outskirts of San Salvador in El Salvador.
The hawk, named Churcky, has been exercised in the park by local falconer Roy Beers for the past 15 years.

I’ve been thinking I need a patron saint. Saint John of the Cross was a follower of Saint Teresa of Avila, later her confessor and with her co-founder of the Discalced (Barefoot) Carmelites, a religious order that depends on charity and does service through prayer and contemplation. He was one of the great mystics and poets of the Roman Catholic faith.
If you can’t quite make out the words on the scroll, they appear in one of his poems, “The Bride”:
I hope to see you all here tomorrow!

My Beloved, the mountains,
and lonely wooded valleys,
strange islands,
and resounding rivers,
the whistling of love-stirring breezes,
the tranquil night
at the time of the rising dawn,
silent music,
sounding solitude,
the supper that refreshes, and deepens love.
