Today’s flower: jasmine. I’d been planning to include this flower this week, but the death of B. K. S. Iyengar makes it seem all the more right. His book Light on Yoga taught me how to breathe. I lived in India a long, long time ago. The city where I lived, Madurai, is famous for its jasmine production, and for special occasions and often for no particular occasion, it’s common for both men and women there to be given jasmine garlands. This garland of jasmine is in honor of B. K. S. Iyengar, who brought yoga to the west and many moments of peace to me. Namaste.
