Woowho, first to post on part 6! Jealous VC? You know that while Fub is away, the substitute teacher takes over. And wether you like it or not, that's you VC. I'll be expecting a daily checking in. You'll have to tear yourself away from the studies and the stud for a few moments each day. Glad you're feeling better today Sandy. Have to work today and the weekend...yuk |

I am feeling better now... my poor nephew was very embarressed today, my father - who used to be an outdoors telecommunications worker - gave his class a demonstration of some of the work he used to do, I don't know how that came about. As soon as it was over, my neph wanted to know 'Can I go home NOW please?' But when we asked what the rest of the class thought, he said 'They quite liked it!' so all's well... I did my biggest 'amend' today, not in the formal sense but whatever... don't know if it was such a great idea considering I'm not feeling the best at the moment, but glad to get it out of the way, and I'm feeling calm about it now. I know it was the right thing in this case to do, and think I've done what I needed to in that quarter now, got to leave that part of it behind. 'Onwards and upwards' as they say. |

Hey Wendy congrats to your Patriots... they gave the Titans a huge beat down. Hard to believe my lowly Raiders beat the Eagles! |

Saw my shrink today and I'm going on Campral. It was offered to me last year and I wanted to try and do without it if I could (I'm worried about possible side effects) but I'm still getting intense withdrawal type symptoms after several weeks sober. Trazadone isn't available in Australia unfortunately. Also made an appointment with the local drug and alcohol counselor for Wednesday, he could just remember me from last year, I saw him twice. Might as well give it a try anyhow, hope it helps, probably should have done all this months ago...

Hello class.. I'm on day 8 of no alcohol with my current attempt. Oh well, I've been sober WAY longer than drinking this year,,and that is a positive for me. As you say Sandy,,,,Onwards and Upwards. I think the Fub went for a week, so I expect he might get back this weekend.... |

Going to see this drug and alcohol counselor this afternoon. I don't know how it is going to go with this shrink however - he tried to get me to do a very basic exercise, it's the sort I've never really liked doing, it took nearly an hour just to complete it. I don't know if he sees the point in continuing with it either! I did get in a few questions though about where to go from here, my doctor though she's nice is really just a temporary trainee, he's going to write to her. Next week I have an appointment to get the Campral, I may not need to take it all the time though. Last night as I was trying to get to sleep I was thinking of Fub maybe relaxing on a beach somewhere in Cuba... long way from here lol. I look forward to hearing about it and how it went when he gets back. |

Not sure Fub is "relaxing" on the beach, after his phys challenge/work outs, he's probably posing as the pretty girls walk by... while wearing his baseball hat. I commend you Sandy for reaching out and getting help from the health care providers, even if it seems not to be helping right now... I believe it will all come together in the end... the positive actions we do today will directly effect the desired outcome of our tomorrows, and of course any negative actions we do today... reaping what we sow. |

I am feeling okay most of the time these days JS, it just seems every now and then I hit a wall. I didn't like it that last week that I relied on diazepam, I feel like I should really reset my sobriety date - it's a mind altering drug even if prescription. So right now I'm trying to look at other options. It went well with the counselor today. He says though that Campral takes 5 days to really kick in (it's not addictive) so I should be taking it every day for 6 months, and at first I have to be monitored closely with it. After that he thinks I should be okay. Our Marty888 (another Aussie) is looking pretty buff these days, he's trying to convince everyone that all Aussie men look like Hugh Jackman... sadly, no. There was a picture of him in Bali and I tried to find it, but the thread it was on has been taken off (not Marty's fault). |

What... no picture of Marty888 looking buff in Bali, disappointment is setting in. I officially put in my 2 weeks notice yesterday and will start my new job 9 Nov. Looking forward to the change and new challenge. Have today and the weekend off, whoohoo. I'm guessing Fub will return this weekend, looking forward to his recalling of the trip... should be an interesting story. Wonder if there is gambling there, probably, you know how he loves his poker. Big (((hug))) to Sandy, I love hugs. |

Marty promised to post new pics I really like watching poker tournaments on TV. I don't think I'd be any good at it though, I can't really keep a straight face. Weekend coming up. My nephew really wants me to make him a lemon meringue pie. He brought some lemons home from school. Might try to make it with him tomorrow. Found a recipe here. Exclusively Food: Lemon Meringue Pie Recipe He's nine years old, growing fast and seems hungry all the time. |

We made the pie this afternoon, it turned out okay, my nephew spent most of the time though wanting me to also help him out on his computer, and explain the whole Lord of the Rings trilogy to him. But after about 5 hours the pie got done and now I'm back home. This morning he had his first tennis practice, and found it pretty easy - I was terrible at sports and can't really join in with him at that sort of thing at all. But we play on his laptop, watch DVDs and listen to music, at which point my parents usually make themselves scarce. Right now he is into Lynyrd Skynyrd. I of course don't have kids of my own and don't think that's ever going to happen, so this is a new role for me, it's okay though. |

Good morning. Back from vacation and back on the wagon. I had a few drinks while away but did not get drunk so I consider myself still sober. My wife gave me the OK to try moderate drinking but only while we were away so it is back to abstinence for me again until she paroles me again. It was weird but I didn't really want to get drunk but it was nice to have a few to socialize with people we met. If you don't want to drink at all I would not recommend an all inclusive since non drinkers do not fit in well with the scene and there is a pressure to participate. This is why my wife gave me an exemption. We were feeling isolated from the rest of the crowd. If you are a complete loner, which I am not, it may work out for you. As far as the highlights of the trip it was mostly just relaxing on the beach and around the pool. We went on one side trip to Manatanzas, a city with a bit of history, but it was quite boring. Not even getting drunk would have made that fun. Glad to see everyone here moving on. Good to be back with you all.

Your nephew is blessed to have an aunt like you Sandy. My wife and I don't have any kids together, I have two from a previous marriage that live in Canada with their mother. We have tried invitro/invivo three times without success. Like you |

Welcome back Fub. I'm glad that you were able to have just those few drinks and be okay with it - just be careful though. Now and then it seems I'm able to have a few and drink in moderation okay it seems. Not being sure if I really do fall into the range of classic alcoholic/binge drinker/whatever, I've done a few moderation experiments. After a few weeks sometimes, I've allowed myself up to four drinks and sometimes after two drinks have felt almost like I've had to force myself to have the following two. If I do have a few drinks I try to make sure it's not at a time of stress. And I thought that maybe I could do that now and then, maybe on 'special occasions'. The last time didn't work out too well though, I ended up drinking more than a six pack. It seems hit and miss for me. And it's certainly not something I can do as a weekly habit. It really doesn't take much for me to start getting into the full grip of it again, only one or two weeks. And you've put so much work into all this in the last few months. Right now I'm fine with continuing through with abstinence, I really want to get my head clear, but if I ever did go on a trip somewhere or to another concert, I don't know... I wouldn't like to drink so much though that I couldn't remember the best things. Anyhow, I doubt that what you did would have done any harm. But that's been my experience with it for myself this year. |
