I didn't go out for my walk this morning because it was too hot.

I planned to go at sunset instead,

but now I can't go at all because of a thunderstorm.

Won't have to sit with baby at all. Ck is taking her sister and baby to dinner this evening, so I'll drive them there in a while. I can nap while they're at dinner, then pick them up.

Feeling a bit 'unreal' today, what's up with that?

The sky went almost black and we are having a severe weather alert with 6 0mph winds & lightning strikes very close to the house. Yikes! When it thunders the windows shake!!

What's that rule about counting how many seconds between the lightning strike and thunder??? The last one was just short of 2 seconds!

Thanks D. Most of them were about 4 seconds and I just saw some horizontal strikes as I'm writing this. If it clears I'm going to go on my walk- to see what's going on in the neighborhood. The dopler radar shows the storm heading over the ocean...but then that's only a few miles from here- so it ain't over yet. Whew!

I'm okay...I have a surge protector and for some reason the electic grid for this neighborhood isn't affected much by storms. The longest time we were without juice in fall of '04...for only four days. Most people went without electricity from 2-3 weeks at that time.

There's barely a rumble out there now...but the sky is still black to the west of me. I won't go out walking unless it's safe. I really want to go tonite though because it will be nice and cool...don't worry whiners cause it WILL get hot again and that's a fact.

It's not that you will lose electricity, the lightening can come through the computer

It is nice with a cool breeze here in Jersey tonight. Absolutely a gorgeous night. I'm glad the storm is subsiding C

Years ago, our TV was fried...also with a surge protector. TV's, computers and phones are dangerous.

Cell phones and laptops are safe because they don't connect directly.

I love a good thunderstorm at night and sleep like a baby.
