The dinner and and entertainment was very nice. The one eyed pasta was good.
I held the longest drive for over an hour of competition... just to be beaten by one of the last guys, he had already hit... then purchased 3 more tries and won by 8 yards. Oh well, at least I didn't embarrass myself.

Good early morning class.
It is not whether you win or lose but how you play the game Mike
Yhay big storm here made a mess.
There are thousands of huge trees here in Toronto and every time there is a big storm we lose huge branches on a lot them which causes thousands of homes to lose their power. My wife works in the office at Hydrp so she has to go in for overtime all day today even though her job is not in the call center to supervise the call center staff.
My son who is in the call center has to work also. It is tough listening to people whine all day just because they have no electricity since there is not much they can do about it except make sure the customer gets on the repair list.
As far as I am concerned, all I have to do is get my own lunch.
It seems nobody wabts to work overtime anymore even if they do get double time.

Shoot, I love double time. That's where the money is for sure......big day then Fub? Figuring lunch out? LOL......I don't know how you maintain composure with that kind of stress........

I had the most awesome dream....I met Bill Belichick.......Fub, he is the coach for my Patriots team. It's not the first time I have dreamed about him. Anyway, he fell for me, it was a sweet dream, not a sex one....... he thought I was really something. Kept telling me I was beautiful and he held my hand. I even remember exactly how he kissed!LOL.......hey, it's a dream! LOL. Anyway, it was nice. He was pretty cool. It's nice to even dream again instead of waking up to anxiety and nothingness! Is nothingness a word? It is now.

I have to find stuff to do today......not going to do much outside in the afternoon as it is supposed to be pretty hot today. (not as hot as my dream.) I do have a funeral to go to at 11. Don't want to go but it's a good friend's mom.

WTG JSM.......you had an excellent showing. Damn guy for buying those other tickets!! ha! What did you think of gorgonzola?

Have a good one.....hugs to both of you.

Good morning class
It is nice to see everyone back on the wagon with me.
The hydro outage crisis is over so I may get my lunch today without having to go out. I am so Lazzzy when it comes to preparing food for myself.

Maybe Mrs Fub will prepare you something with gorgonzola in it...

Just started back on the dayshift, had an OK day. Interesting case, my patient was flown in from Belize, Central America after being shot in the back by his business partner. Nice eh? Guess they got into an disagreement about some real estate venture down there. This chap must have some money, an air ambulance from there would cost a fortune...

Good morning class

Are you some kind of doctor JS?
I am glad I don't have any business partners. The closest I come to having partners is you guys. My partners in staying sober.
I had a good day of poker yesterday won $250 and a gold ticket for coming in first to play in a game where the winner gets 1,000,000 EUROS. Not bad for a free game eh. I might take my winnings and play in some real cash games or I might just spend it on something else.
Poker is just a hobby and generally speaking I only play free games. I only make enough to maybe pay for my internet connection which is overpriced in Canada by the way.

Nice payout Fub, sounds like a fun way to pay for your internet.
And no I'm not an MD, I work for a living... ICU RN. Never grew up as a little kid thinking "I want to be a Registered Nurse" I was a combat medic in the army, then an army Licensed Practical Nurse. Later after I got out of the army I just followed the natural progression and completed my degree in nursing. As a matter of fact theirs quite a few Canadian nurses down here in Texas.
I could sure use your guidance this next weekend Warren... me and few of my buddies are going to Vegas for 3 days of fun. Kinda of a funny group of friends; surgeon, vet, church music director and myself-sounds like the start of a joke or some silly movie cast.
Enjoy your day partners in sobriety...I'm off today and on my way to the golf course.

LOL VC. sorta.

I do have some tips on most casino games Mike.
Never gamble more than you are willing to lose is first.

Tell me what games you are planning to play and I will give you some free advice that is worth what you pay for it.

I suggest you watch the movie Hangover before you go.

Good morning all
I hope everyone is feeling good today.
I will be happy come September and the new TV shows start. This is what my life has become. Playing online poker and waiting for the new TV season.
I haven't started to find new hobbies to replace drinking yet and that is probably not a good thing so maybe it is something I will concentrate after I get back from our holiday in October.
Perhaps next year I will retry golf. The closest I have come so far is watching it on TV.

Saw the movie Hangover, hilarious. Could of done without some of over-the-top snapshots at the end...when we went to see it, the Mom-in-law invited herself at the last minute, somewhat awkward but she laughed a lot and she's a very cool lady.
I guess the only gaming tips I could use would be for blackjack. I went to Vegas about 15yrs ago and played with $50... took me about 6hrs to lose it, pretty good entertainment. I do know I'm supposed to 'stay' on 17 and above...thats the extent of my knowledge.
I too am looking forward to the new tv season... and the football that comes with it. There's one particular new comedy that looks awesome. The cast includes the dude from 'Married with children' he's remarried a younger woman, and is the father of a gay son who along with his partner has now adopted a baby.
Hope you do retry golf Warren, it is fun and at a times frustrating... but I love the challenge... the golf course always wins no matter how well you play.

Hi all of you - have been missing in action a bit but have not forgotten the class of January. Doing OK - stepping back into not drinking at all and looking forward to being on that path again..

Way to go all you Januarians who have worked it, and who have been so supportive! :ghug2

Glad you could come to class KB. Do you have a note for this lengthy absence.

As far as black jack goes I used to play it all the time. If played properly the house has less than a 1% advantage the lowest of any casino game.

First I suggest that you play at a table where you have at least 25 bets. So if you have $50 to play you would want to try to find a $2 min table.
You will not find one of these on the strip but you will find them downtown if you go there.
The downtown casinos are much friendlier anyways just not as fancy.

Try to get match bet coupons to play when possible.

In terms of playing the actual game I am enclosing a link to a chart as to what you do if you get a certain hand against the dealers up card. It is called basic strategy and is the standard that everyone plays by. As a matter of fact some players will get annoyed if you do not play by the standard but don't let them bug you.

You can print this chart out and refer to it while you are playing at most casinos and they even sell them in the casino gift shops.

The link does not have any commercial offerings so it should be OK here but if the admins remove it just PM me or just google basic strategy black jack and it should be the first listing. Good luck at the tables.

Good morning guys and dolls.
That bruise on my spine is gone and I bought a new exercise mat so I won't get it again.
So it is onward and upward with the challenge.
Think big JS. Gaby needs a new Chevy Impala. This ad bought to you by the courtesy of Generous Motors and sponsored by Masseyman.

Promised myself I wouldn't post in this thread drunk anymore.

Now that I have 10 days in and have vitamins flowing through my veins instead of Molson's..........

I just wanted to say Hello to my old Alma Matter.

Plus, there's no way I want to miss any golf games.

My blackjack strategy is not very scientific and doesn't involve cue cards.

Under 15 - Hit me
Over 15 - Stay
15 - I go with my gut feeling, and consider the face card

How's this for a golf cart ?

Or this one?
We could do a little trolling through the ponds.

Glad you checked in Richard. It is nice to see the regulars here on a regular basis.
Summer break is almost over and it will be back to the old early school day routine.
You have all had your summer fun now it is back to working on our curriculum if you know what I mean.
In other words party time is over.
