Hi PB,

Don't feel embarrassed. We all make mistakes. This is not an easy thing to overcome.

PaddingtonBear~ Do not feel ashamed. Just dust yourself off and get back on it. We're here for you Sweetie~

Jakey~ Congrats on the end of your first 2 weeks! But that doesn't mean you have to leave the thread, does it =( Can't you post on both? lol

Well today is officially one week for me =) Day 8 and feeling good about my sobriety. My only worries are Christmas Eve/Day simply because Family will be here and they can drive me batty. But I know I can do it and if I feel antsy I'll take a break to my room and come post! lol Who said time-outs where only for Kids? =)

Mega ...PB
Relax...you did nothing that countless of we AA members
have done....Gee! I was in AA 4 years before I actually quit.

Angels in training?
Not any of the AA members I've met.

When I came back once...crushed and whiney
a dear AA friend said

"Get off the cross....and back on your knees"

Zing!
That stuck with me more than the usual "Poor thing" ever did.

Good to know you are getting back on track..

Mari...Excellent plan....it's always good to think of the traps
Let the Grand parents take charge of the festivities...
if they are to be there.
That would be a win win situation.

Way to go on your progress.....

Thanks Mariposa! I'll try and still stop in here once in a while

Great job on getting to 1 week!!! You are doing fantastic! Just worry about getting through today without drinking, we can worry about Christmas when it gets here.

Everyone comes to my House for Christmas so I don't have to drive around with the Kids. Both sets of Grandparents are the ones who annoy me and I need to escape from! lmfao I But like you said I have a plan, it will be alright =) If it was just me, Hubby and the Kids...oh what Bliss!

But, it is what it is...

Hello everyone!
Day 2 for me again. This is my second serious attempt to get sober but this time I really believe I'm ready.
And Wow - I can't believe this thread is still here. I started the "2 week" about this time last year as a goal for myself to make it 2 wks and move on.
I hope this thread and 2 wk goal has helped some of you.

It's been real interesting to go back and read what I posted a year ago and how different my thinking is this time around.

Good luck to all of us, we'll make it!

Hi, I'm new here, I have been reading some posts on and off for the past few weeks. I am 12 days sober (alcohol)
I have been feeling pretty flat although have had a few moments of feeling deeply at peace, this was great and I hope that will happen more often! I also have given up caffeine (5 weeks) and I must say the withdrawals from that have been very challanging!

Hi everyone,

Thanks to all the support from you guys in this thread and from AA, I managed to stay away from drink yesterday, so I'm now into day 2.

Just going to try and stay in the day - at work until 7pm, then get to a meeting, and then get home safe for tea and toast and an early night.

Have a good Tuesday everyone!

Omega man - big thank you for starting the thread, I haven't posted in here for a while, I should have, the 2 weeks and under thread is the most important on SR I reckon.

I posted in here ever day during my first 14 days, helped me get through.

A lot of my best friends on here are the ones I made during those first 14 days.

Stick at it everone

Hi all,

I had a horrible day today, sorry to be so depressing. I got a call from my ex and got into a huge fight with him. Normally I would go straight to the kitchen to make a drink but I didn't. My head is throbbing from crying, and I feel like crap. When i argue with him, my body starts shaking and my adrenelin starts pumping and for years alcohol was the only thing that would calm me down. It sucks to have to deal with these emotions and figure out a way to calm yourself down. Time to get creative I guess....

Sicilia~ I'm sorry you had such a bad day The only suggestion I would have about he Ex is to not answer the phone next time. I know, easier said than done, but remember how you feel right now before you answer!

Go take a nice hot shower and stay there until the hot water runs out. It will help relax your muscles and soothe you as well. Drink some hot chocolate if you like it and maybe put on a movie or Journal out your feelings, that helps me a lot.

Try to relax Sweetie and know you can get through this~ Stay Strong~

Thanks so much Mari for responding back...you are totally right. I did try to make some tea but that just isn't cutting it.

well, no matter how crappy i feel i just keep telling myself that at least i am FEELING and i am sober, i will take that over alcohol any day.

I'm going through that on a daily basis. I think this would be easier if I was straight up single.

Can I join this group?
I am on Day 8 today - but it's 9:30pm & I am not tempted to drink (was during day - but fine now) so I know I am all lined up & ready to hit Day 9.

Sicilia - all you need to focus on right now is YOU! Hug yourself, and love yourself & don't let anything and anyone jeapordise (sp?) your sobriety!
I know it's hard - I am fighting with my partner to the point where he is sleeping over a friends house tonight instead of coming home tonight (I asked him to). But I will not let it rock me.

p.s. what do we all do when we hit 2 weeks? Find a new thread? Lol!
