Hi everyone, Sorry I haven't posted recently, I've not been doing so well recently ![]() Last week I was coming down with flu, and made the massive mistake of taking a drink to alleviate the symptoms and it's all gone horribly wrong since then Got to try to break out of this downward spiral I wish there were such things as "sobriety angels", like trainee angels who have to earn their wings by helping a suffering, alcoholic human to get and stay sober. I could sure do with one right now ![]() Sorry I'm not doing so well, thanks for listening! |

Hi Espresso, Thanks alot for your post. Yes, I'm going to get to a meeting today after work. I've missed a few meetings the last few days due to feeling too ashamed to attend, but I know I have to get back to meetings quickly - otherwise things will just get worse. Thanks for helping me! PB |

No need to feel ashamed: people will be glad you've gone back to get well. The illness wants us to feel "ashamed" so that we end up feeling so sh***y in ourselves, we drink again. Good Luck and just keep things in the day!

The first 2 weeks had a lot of highs and lows for me but I am feeling good today and more committed than ever to staying sober forever. Stay strong! |

Hi PB, Don't feel embarrassed. We all make mistakes. This is not an easy thing to overcome. |

| PaddingtonBear~ Do not feel ashamed. Just dust yourself off and get back on it. We're here for you Sweetie~ Jakey~ Congrats on the end of your first 2 weeks! But that doesn't mean you have to leave the thread, does it =( Can't you post on both? lol Well today is officially one week for me =) Day 8 and feeling good about my sobriety. My only worries are Christmas Eve/Day simply because Family will be here and they can drive me batty. But I know I can do it and if I feel antsy I'll take a break to my room and come post! lol Who said time-outs where only for Kids? =)

Mega ...PBRelax...you did nothing that countless of we AA members have done....Gee! I was in AA 4 years before I actually quit. Angels in training? ![]() Not any of the AA members I've met. When I came back once...crushed and whiney a dear AA friend said "Get off the cross....and back on your knees" Zing! That stuck with me more than the usual "Poor thing" ever did. Good to know you are getting back on track..

Mari...Excellent plan....it's always good to think of the traps Let the Grand parents take charge of the festivities... if they are to be there. That would be a win win situation. Way to go on your progress.....

Hello everyone! Day 2 for me again. This is my second serious attempt to get sober but this time I really believe I'm ready. And Wow - I can't believe this thread is still here. I started the "2 week" about this time last year as a goal for myself to make it 2 wks and move on. I hope this thread and 2 wk goal has helped some of you. It's been real interesting to go back and read what I posted a year ago and how different my thinking is this time around. Good luck to all of us, we'll make it!

Jakey- congrats on your two weeks. Omega Man- welcome back, the source of this board, wow. Ksplash- thank you, it's been a great ride so far. It's only 8 days for me but I feel like I did when I was sober for six months, I hope this good fortune continues. |

Hi, I'm new here, I have been reading some posts on and off for the past few weeks. I am 12 days sober (alcohol) I have been feeling pretty flat although have had a few moments of feeling deeply at peace, this was great and I hope that will happen more often! I also have given up caffeine (5 weeks) and I must say the withdrawals from that have been very challanging! therightlife |

Hi everyone, Thanks to all the support from you guys in this thread and from AA, I managed to stay away from drink yesterday, so I'm now into day 2. Just going to try and stay in the day - at work until 7pm, then get to a meeting, and then get home safe for tea and toast and an early night. Have a good Tuesday everyone! |
