Yes mag...very interesting posts. Thank you. I relate to a lot of what you are saying.
I have four children altogether:

My oldest is a girl 30. She is married, has a 2 year old son.....lives in Wisconsin....which is where she went to college. She works in PR for a large casino.

Then I have my other daughter, 24 year old. She just graduated this year from LIU here in LI. She will be begin her student teaching this year.....has a few more things to do for her teaching certificate.

Then I have my 12 year old son.....he is in 7th grade.....goes to middle school. Believe it or not he is my most sensitive child. But he is super friendly.....always cracking a joke. Keeps us all laughing. Is pretty popular and does well in school. Although he didn't always. Has been thru therapy which I think as helped him tremendously!

Then my youngest and baby girl, she is 9 years old and in the 4th grade. She was born premature.....and is legally blind.....but she can see from one eye enough to be in a mainstream classroom. She is very smart....probably my smartest child.....plus her attention to detail, sense of hearing is amazing. She is my miracle child! Since she almost did not survive.....was born dead (blue)...resuscitated and hooked up to a ventilator.

Thank you guys for the support. SR has helped me a lot because Ive made some great friendships and had people to talk to in confidence when I needed it the most. I was doing counseling on my own for a long time, but I feel like I did work through most of the pain, and the feelings that had my head spinning from last year. I still have my moments, reminders, and always a lot of questions as we continue on. My husband and I still do family counseling but only twice a month now. Im doing a CRAFT class and Ive met some people this way too. But you know a lot of the people who are trying it out for the first time have abandoned other programs and have been dealing with addiction for a long time. Its cool when they talk about how they start changing their behavior towards their significant other, and after all these years they are seeing signs of improvement and feeling good. So I dont know, I guess its a matter of not losing hope, having faith, and being willing to try something different.

I feel like it would help me to make a post and share how this first year has been for me. I need time to let my thoughts flow through before I try.

Clean, what do you mean be a guest? You belong here as much as anywhere else. I dont like the term double winner all that much, and I know you didnt seek out SR because of family, and I dont want to discuss your private situation, but you are family of a substance abuser. Dont forget there are lots of people here who havent heard or seen their "person" in years or decades. So you do belong, hahaha everywhere on SR. mmm maybe not a few forums but the majority. I dont want you crashing the mens only or anything !

I think about how scary it must have been for you to find out about your daughter when she was born so early, and had to be revived. She is a miracle baby, and you know whats so cool is she isa really REALLY smart little girl. (from all the things you have shared about her). I must not be in a place where Im ready to have kids yet because the thought terrifies me. I think my husband would be a great dad, but I worry about my part. I dont know if its normal to get scared like this because I have friends who have wanted kids forever like it came so natural.

Wow it's another lovely day today in Long Island. Hubs is home....so we are just about to settle in for a Saturday matinee from Netflix. I'm just warming up a can of tomato soup....with crackers. Will eat it while watching.....might even pop a little popcorn. Ah life is good!

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

So glad your hubs is home and you can spend some time together. Did your daughter make it to the conference ok? Did she end up sleeping?

Last night we went to the dinner thing, and his company had bought a table so there was alot of work talk but it didnt get too serious and we had fun. They were serving cocktails about 30 minutes before dinner, so he said maybe we could be fashionably late and miss most of it. So we did, and then we did have some wine. There were bottles at the table, but i only had one glass, and he had a glass, and maybe half another. I was proud of him, and you know we already discussed his drinking, and his goal is not to drink for emotional reasons, or to make situations more comfortable, but he wants to have a glass with dinner now and then like we did last night. I felt good about it, Im not a big drinker anyway. No one I saw had a problem with their alcohol last night. The food was good, nothing I was tempted to sneak into my purse, but I didnt bring a ziploc anyway. Im not serious husband would have died of embarrassment The best part was we got to do some slow dancing and it topped off the night.

This weekend we're visiting with his parents and some other family, I had time in the car to work on some of my pictures Ive been promising, so Im going to try to attach a couple.

This is the peanut feed we bought first, and my cat helping fill it. This was cute but way too small. Im not using it anymore.

And this is Jaguar waiting for me one morning:

and this is the baby raccoon who likes peanuts and eats leftovers at night
(husband doesnt know about this guy yet)

Hello guys I've heard that's the new cool place to hang out. Do you mind if I join you?

Clean, your saturday evening sounds wonderful! Enjoy it! I agree, life is wonderful

Blue, the dinner thingy sounds great. I think husbunny handles the alcohol very well. I understand that he doesn't want to give up on it completely. I'm glad you got the chance to do some slow dancing that sounds lovely!

Jaguar and the raccoon are so cute!

Hello blue and butter! Yes this is our new spot. Like it? I do...very much so! Thanks blue for the pics....so cute! A little fuzzy but that's ok. Ok you can club me now! Lol just kidding.

What I wonderful evening blue! I know husbunny is good with his alcohol. I can understand his reasons too. I think with the type of lifestyle you two have plus his work that wine and cocktails go along with it sometimes.... Not for getting plastered....but just for social engagements. My parents were not big drinkers either, but they did attend a lot of dinners like the one you are describing and would have a glass of wine or cocktail. It's just the way it is.....people would probably become suspicious if husbunny were to pass on the drinks. Now days, the first thing people think about is he's in recovery. I doubt he wants that looming over him. But I love that you danced a slow dance together.....how romantic!

Today was nice....just a quiet stay at home Saturday. It ended up getting cloudy...looks like we might get a thunder storm. My daughter is still in GA. The convention will go on til 10:00 pm. She said she met some actors so she was excited about that.

Ok....enjoy your evening!

Glad to see you here butter! Yay butter is here!

Blue,
Your going to have to explain that feeder.. How are the squirrels supposed to get the food out of there? Is that a glass jug attached?

Hello C & B... oops not B.. I mean Butter. . cant abbreviate that one. LOL

Quiet day today for us. We had my husbands parents, and his brother over for a cookout. My son loved it, he played outside and showed off big time. Monday we will be spending with my family, and tomorrow is just for us

She met and took a picture with the actress that stars in the Lost Girls.

I think that's the name. I'm not real up on that like she is. Ha!

Oh and you had asked about Mimi.

She's as cute as ever. Today she sat in my lap for a long time. I was actually really impressed. When I took her back to her room.....I was covered in rabbit fur. She must be shedding. Maybe this is the time of year? I'll have to read up on that.

I thought I missed you tonight. LOL

Mimi is so cute, you should snag one of the pics and put it over here so we can look at him. I don't know a lot about bunnies, but I bet hes shedding. How do bunnies groom? Cats lick their fur all the time, that's how they get those hairballs from time to time.. as in the spilled milk incident with my son that caused me to clean the entire couch and lose a nights sleep because he was so upset. son, not cat. LOL

Your daughter is always meeting celebrities. I forgot but you told me she met someone in NY there not long ago. I never meet anyone. Ok not true, I met Gene Hackman a while back. Probably would not make your daughter too excited though... LOL Im happy she's out having fun because she has worked hard in school, graduated this year and deserves some R&R.

I was reading about Joan Rivers tonight.. very sad, unexpected... I hope she comes out of it.

Yes I heard about her on the radio. I usually listen to the news station while I'm cooking or cleaning up the kitchen. It's sad....I really hope she pulls thru!

I can't remember who that was that my daughter met? She has met a few of them. She enjoys that sort of thing. I guess she takes pics and puts them on Instagram or FB. You probably think I'm crazy, but I'm still calling Mimi she from time to time. It's engrained in my head! Lol sometimes it's she sometimes its he....and honestly I don't really know. Ha! I need to take he/she lol to the vet so he can tell me which it is.

clean, did your daughter drive without a break again? i hope the girls share the driving this time.
Mimi sounds cute. And your daughter seems to be lucky regarding the celebrities. i never saw someone. but probably i wouldn't recognize them anyway. lol.

butter needs to get moving. Pack the rest of my stuff, get to the airport to catch the bus and then a cab from the bus stop to my new home :-) It's gonna be exhausting but i am haaaaapppyyyyyy :-)

i see you all later!

I had to read that twice Butter, at first I thought you were going so far from Boston you had to take a plane, and my heart sank because I know you love it there. But now I see its only a bus/cab ride away.

Im so happy for you, but sad classes are starting soon and we wont see you here as much. Now lets get down to the important things, is this a coed dorm? Does it have Ivy on the building? You have your own room I think, but tell us about your neighbors once you move in. Your luggage will be so happy to finally get some rest !!

Its ok Clean sometimes I forget about Jaguar and call her a him because some of our other animals are boys. Animals dont act too picky about this, unless you go trying to put some pink dress on HIM then he might be offended.

Hi Allfor. Come out in the daylight once in a while please !! Your a Night Owl!

Going for a hike today, and I hope to go riding, went to visit the horses and took carrots but that was it.

aaaw, blue you're so cute

no, no i could have taken the train, but that would have been very annoying with all that luggage.

Girls, I MADE IT! I'm finally here and all settled in I need to take a shower though. It's very humid today and i'm totally wet after carrying all my luggage on to the 3rd floor...

BBL and tell you everything!

Aaah, after that shower i feel so much better!

Haha blue, no, because i chose the single room i'm in a all-female dorm. I'm on the 3rd floor and have a wonderful view from my window. I will have to pay attention to the ivy, but it's certainly not an Ivy league school. I like my room, and can't wait to make it pretty. At least the bed seems to be quite comfy. I haven't met my new neighbors yet, but the girls that checked me in are very nice.
I'm so glad that i don't have to move again

haha, you're so cool, putting a pink dress on Mimi that made me laugh but, on the other hand, he might like pink

How are the rest of us? Allfor, i second blue's request... you should show up during the day once in a while ;-) otherwise, we'll never get to see you!

How are you clean?

so,i think i'll grab some dinner. Except for some Doritos i haven't eaten a thing today... I was too busy! Later they show a movie, and i might go and watch it.

Enjoy your evening ladies

It was a very very HOT and HUMID day! Gosh you could cut it with a knife! I took 3 showers today it was so bad! Not a day to be running around carrying luggage plus carrying up stuff up to the third floor Butter. Do you have an elevator or are they steps? I can just imagine how miserable that was for you! But I'm glad you are all set in your dorm room. Yay! What view to you have? Wish you could send me a pic of it.

Hope everyone else had a nice day.

Allfor I hope your family day was nice. Did you do anything special? So what's on the agenda at your parents house? Another barbecue?

Well my daughter reached home today around 11am. She went in and collapsed on the day bed in the living-room. I made her some waffles and eggs. She scarfed them right up....I guess they didn't stop for food on the way home. After that she fell right to sleep and is still asleep. We are going on 13 hours now. I tried to wake her for dinner...I made tacos tonight..but all she did was say some gibberish and turn over and kept right on sleeping.

My hubs is off tomorrow. We don't have any plans though. I guess we will see what the weather is like and see how my daughter feels. If its as hot and humid as it is today then I think the beach would be a nice.
