Struggling right now.

Struggling, what can I say? Keep moving the goalposts on stopping and it's wearing me down.

Hey mate, I can totally relate. For me, weed has been just as hard to get off as pills, maybe even moreso.

In my opinion cold turkey is the only way, take a couple weeks off work or whatever if you have to, and use us for support.

It's funny... just a few years ago the majority of people would tell you marijuana is not addictive... How the world has changed now that people have opened up about their addiction to it. No one will judge you here, please do check in with us.

I use to be the same way although I was so stoned 24 hrs I didn't know that I was struggling I just kept smoking thinking things would get better on their own but they only got worse until I moved away from a state where it is legal and finally quit for good now my mind is so much more clear and I actually things once in a while.

You have been away from your alcoholic lifestyle for almost a year. But I am really surprised to know you are still passing hard times. Your strong will not to be trapped into this bad habit again is really praiseworthy. I think you continue to inspire those friends of you who are still with it. No matter, you will forget everything soon, I hope. Best of luck!

Just checking in.

I've been a full week without weed.

My first full week of "true sobriety" in a long time.

It's been a very positive feeling for the most part. I'd say the first few days were the worst and I probably would not have made it if not for the kind words here and if friends didn't invite me out for biking. I usually would decline something like that because I'd be stoned and antisocial. I also attended a few meetings for the first time in months and that was a great, great help.

Been getting cravings being in contrxts where I usually smoke..... Everywhere around my house really. Hasn't been easy. I must have felt like smoking a dozen times today to the point where you can imagine the smell and the feeling and where you keep it and the process of it all.

But I am comforted knowing that I'm sober for real this time and no longer just self-medicating my alcohol abstinence.

The first week is hard. It gets easier to not smoke. I watched "Ten Things You Don't Know About Marijuana" last night and it made me jones so bad that I thought I was going nuts but it didn't even occur to me to actually smoke some pot so things must be getting better, right? It's been six months for me today.

A week is great! Takes some work to get there for sure. Sounds like you've been distracting yourself well. It's great when you can get invited somewhere (especially last minute) and not be stoned and be able to/want to go. What about answering the phone? That was one of the biggest changes for me, picking up instead of letting it go to voicemail.

I hear ya. I keep moving the goal posts as well. It's a tough habit to kick. I've been off alcohol for 7 days, feel good about my progress on that front. But I haven't been successful with weed yet.
