All I can think about today is taking a handful of pills. I have been doing so good and haven't had any major cravings until today. Today is day 37 so I know that I have been doing really good, going to meetings, even went to one this morning. This craving to shall pass. Thanks for listening Christie |

What helps me when cravings hit is to remember where I go when I get strung out....try to remember the bad **** instead of just the good feelings I get upfront. Also, thoughts are just thoughts, they never have to become actions. It is natural for a recovering addict to think about using, it's what we know how to do. You can't control the thought from comming to you, but you can control what you do after it hits. Posting here is a good thing when **** like this happens, calling your sponsor or other woman in the program is another good idea, hitting a meeting is another.......have confidence in the fact that thoughts can't get you loaded, only your hands can. You have a choice now, which is a good thing. And when all else fails, I white knucle it, burry my finger nails into my recovery and hold on for dear life, repeating over and over "DON'T USE NOT MATTER WHAT.....DON'T USE NOT MATTER WHAT.....DON'T USE NO MATTER WHAT" Eventually all cravings pass and you come out stronger on the other side. Keep on truckin, blake

| JUST DO IT!! |
One thing that I just learned in my out-patient that a craving only last for 7 seconds, it is the mind that dwells on the craving that makes it last longer. Hum I dwell for hours before, so today, if I get one, I go read or do something other than whatever I am doing when it hits. That seems to help a lot. Love Vic

Vic I totally agree about your mind taking over when you get a craving. Once I start thinking about it I start this crazy obssession where all I can think about is using. I need to learn different outlets when I feel intense cravings. Christie |
