I am not aware of anything. I know that most of the studies indicate that pot is mentally addictive, but not physically. I exercised alot and that helped more than anything-that and going to meetings. Jimmy |

There are not supposed to be physical withdrawal symptoms from going off pot--I didn't have any. This biggest problems I had were mental: restlessness, irritability, anxiety. There a lots of ways to deal with those: go to meetings, hang out with clean people, exercise, take a hot bath, listen to music, etc.

WELCOME to SR, kim!!! Not only are meetings available without a prescription, but they're also FREE!! LOL. It sounds like your friend is trying to do this on his or her own. That WOULD be hard. Why don't you suggest your friend get some help? Staying clean is so much easier when you have good support. I wish you both the best!! Love and hugs, Eddie

The best medicine to get beyond a pot addiction is for one to figure out what the reason underlying the pot smoking is. Pot sedates, calms, and provides quick escape from the pressure of facing life on its own terms. What is your friend avoiding. Maybe you can provide the needed medicine by offering a listening ear, to encourage your friend to LOOK at why he/ she is using. I think smoking pot is all about avoidance. Which, for that inherent condition of evasiveness, makes it particularly difficult to get to the root of the problem. Be prepared to be led through far-wandering territory if you're going to actually take on this project.

Hmm. Just because something is natural or available OTC doesn't make it 100% percent safe, especially for us addicts. Valerian root is a sedative and is probably best avoided by anyone with a tendency towards addiction. St. John's Wort is purportedly an effective antidepressant, but I wouldn't recommend taking it without medical supervision because it can interact with other meds. As I said above, it is best to seek help from professionals and/or fellow addicts rather than trying to self-medicate. To me, as a professional, herbs are just drugs in their natural form and need to be treated as such. Hope this helps!! Love and hugs, Eddie
