| Today I celebrated my first year. This is a day I thought would never come! I am excited and at the same time overwhelmed because this is also my first day off of parole. I have always been in trouble with the law, and for the first time since I was about 13/14 I'm not. It's a good feeling. I've heard how hard it is for a lot of people, especially women, to make it this far and I hope to continue with my recovery. I hope for many more years to come. This was a tough year for me. I have been dealing with health issues, such as lupus, which I was diagnosed with about a year and a half ago, as well as a diagnosis of cervical cancer which I found out about only about a month ago. I have dealt with getting out of a federal penitentiary and reintegrating back into society. I have also just come out of a relationship with another recovering addict who still needs to work on himself. I am working hard to stay clean and this is just some of the issues that I have had to face in the last year. It hasn't been easy and I just wanted to let all the newcomers, especially the female ones, to the program know that it does work and if I can do it you surely can too. Here's to wishing you all another happy 24, and remember...It's just for today, because that is all we really have.

| Congratulations! It sounds like you've certainly come a long way. You've had many challenging issues to deal with, yet you held onto your recovery tightly through it all, and I'm really proud of you for that. It shows how seriously committed you are about your recovery. Very inspiring! Keep up the excellent work. And again, congratulations on one year! With love and admiration, Kelly
