| 12 step call
Hello family! I'd like to share this with yall... I work in a three quarter house (it's like a sober living house), and last night we held our phone line committee meeting here. Most of the meeting we talked about how to handle 12 step calls. Well, after the meeting was over, we were standing outside, getting ready to go and get coffee, when one of my old residents walked up. He had a booksack on his shoulder, and he was sweating very bad. He walked up to me and said "Alissa, I'm tired, I can't do this anymore! I need help!" We looked at each other and said "This is more important than coffee!" and then we went in my office, to try and figure out a way to help him. He is homeless and had no place to go. He wanted to come back here, but I couldn't let him stay here in his condition. We told him that he might want to think about going to detox. He wasn't feeling very good, so we ended up taking him to the hospital. He was supposed to call me this morning, so we could try and get him into a detox, but I haven't heard from him yet!! I'm not giving up on him, though! But yall, we just had a meeting on this, and then there he was! Right there, as soon as our meeting was over! I think that was God working in all of our lives!! I'll let yall know as soon as I hear from him! Hugs, Alissa |

Wow, Alissa! That's absolutely awesome! Thank you so much for sharing that, and I really hope you'll let us know what happens when you hear from him. I'll pray for him, and for God to guide you in your journey to help this man, and others. Bless you for your compassion and empathy. You just never know when God needs to work through us. Take care, Sweetie! Kelly

Cool alissa, Remember we carry the message, not the addict....you can't force recovery on someone that doesn't want it, but you can be there for anyone that wants to help themselves. Later, Blake (P.S.-it's looking like the weather is going to be georgeous for the crawfish boil this saturday!!!!)
