I got sober and clean 2/14/98, I saw all of that crumble 7 years ago when an industrial accident nearly took my life and the life of a close friend and coworker. I had 5 surgeries before the damage was corrected, the recovery was long, brutal and left me addicted to Vicodin. Although I never took the stuff outside of the way it was prescribed, I found that I could not live without it either. About 2 mos. ago, I decided that whether I hurt or not, I had enjoyed my sobreity enough that I was not going through life fogged in Vikes. At length, I went to my M.D., explained my issue (he knows I am/was in recovery), and he prescribed a taper program and cymbalta. The cymbalta makes me nervous as a ***** in church, but has really helped my attitude and I am now nearly off the vicodin completely. Glad to be here. |

HI hammer! Sounds like your doing what you need to do now to stay well. Im in a similar situation with my mom. she was in a bad wreck in janurary, broke her right hip and left foot and ankle and had to have surgery on both, has a plate in both and pins and screws in both. I have no idea how much pain shes in.. all the doctors say its been several months she shouldnt be hurting as bad as she says she is and shes been on lortabs since janurary. so i kinda see where your coming from but I don't understand it either because I've never been addicted to pills. anyways.. i just wanted to say welcome

| I can relate,
All of my surgeries were in my spine. I have a plate and six pins in my neck and my lower back has had 3 surgeries too. The neurosurgeon says I stand little chance of a pain-free life, but I think differently. Maybe I can't expect a life without pain, but I won't take a pill today. |

neverforget, Nah, I never get tired of hearing feedback that's program related, I get tired of my addiction trying to BS me into believing BS! It's cool that I never have to go it alone. ALso, no one's experience is any worse or any better since it brought us to the same place. Here. |

I am well thanks. I read your welcome, thanks for your kindness. I was in the UK in 1980 while in the military. I have British family heritage, so I do have a fondness for Britons. I hope that we enjoy many years of sobreity a day at a time. |
