Phone line

Good Morning Family!!

My area of NA has just formed a phone line committee. Narcotics does not have a listing in the yellow pages in our area, sooo... we are trying to get one. I was wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions, that could possibly help us. One thing that we are trying to figure out is clean time. How much clean time should one have to be a phone line volunteer. Any info. on matter would be greatly appreciated!!

Hey alissa,

In our area, we have an 800 number and there are 2 guys and a woman that get any of the calls to it. All of them have over 18 years clean which I think is ideal, however they are currently asking for new volunteers to help out. We don't have a phoneline comittee, it falls under the control of our PI sub comittee. In order to volunteer I believe the clean time requirement is a year, but I could be wrong....but a year seems like a good number however more is better.

Twin City Area Narcotics Anonymous is our area and our helpline number is there on the website. You may want to call and just see how it works. We use an answering service, but you have the option to be connected to an addict volunteer, too. You have to be oriented to be a helpline volunteer and I'm pretty sure the cleantime requirement is one year here also. If you're interested, I could send you a copy of our orientation packet.
