Hi! Just wanted to introduce myself. I stumbled across this site while doing a search on 4th step...(I just shared my 4th /5th step on Sunday...Whoo Hoo!!) Anyway, my name is Demplee and I am an addict. I have 14 months clean, today I don't have a problem with drugs, I have a problem with living. Looks there is lots of love and support on this site. Thanks for letting me join.

Welcome Demplee

That's something that I went into this program saying. I don't have a problem with drugs, I have a problem with living. I like that, and I think a lot of people in the program benefit when I share that. I had my share of relapses and whatnot, but I eventually had some nice clean time that was only maintained with simple abstinence.

That doesn't equal recovery, as I'm sure you realize. There were all sorts of other issues in my abstinent life, and I wasn't happy deep-down inside. I had that spiritual void, and NA has more than filled that for me.

This whole farking disease is so much about us, and not really about the drugs at all. I can never hear it or say it enough, the drugs are just a symptom of the disease of addiction. NA has opened doors for me in every facet of my life. It's helped me make my close ties even closer, and it's made me take that negative self-centered attitude in for a serious overhaul. I still have my days (I should say moments), but I can identify a problem with my thinking and correct it in a short period of time.

Much props on youtr step work... awesome to have you aboard

Hi Demplee welcome to SR the post above sums up my thoughts also. Drugs are only a symptom of my disease. I can only do life one day at a time, one hour at a time and one minute at a time.
Keep coming back

PS, I also totally agree, I've never really had a drug problem, just a "me" problem!!! Thats what I love about this fellowship, when I say I'm an addict only, I quit putting the focus on the chemical and I accept "personal" responsibility for the disease of addiction, and the problem, ME!!!
