| Looking for further help for Ilak
Hi everyone I have attached the subject of a pm discussion with Ilak. I'm not familiar with substance abuse, so I wondered if anyone else can offer him help and advice. Thanks. Rich _______________________________________________ Rich i just wanted to say thank you. I never knew that there is an out reach or program....on line....well. I have been going to alanon since i was young with my mother a recovering drug/alcohol addict. i went to alanon and really learned alot about identifying my characteristics..feelings, owning them all of that. i am an alcoholic, not practicing, and since i was 13 addicted to drugs, i have continued going to programs and my recovery is sparatic. i know why i dont follow through, no denial, not unaware. i have been to n.a. and a.a. and all have contrbuted to my knowledge and i always know that i can do it. it is just when i am ready. and i am not going to force myself, i know that it will come in my own time if i just keep trying. im now 22 and i appriciate going and being a part of recovery, the thing is i had quit for almost 1 year an a half, and i started in may heavy..it always seems that way. well i quit AGAIN for about a week and i have been (this is gross) vomitting blood and just vomiting. I had no signs of withdraw until tonight...i am just scared...
Ilak For someone so young you sure have had a lot to deal with and you show great wisdom through the programmes which you have followed. Right now however, rather than dealing with the issues of faith or spirituality, I think you really need to get yourself to a doctor as quickly as possible. The vomitting blood is extremely worrying. It may well be something straightforward which can be cleared up with antibiotics or something. But you need to get it looked at... and I mean now. Depending how much you have been drinking in the past week, you body can have some very adverse reactions to sudden withdrawal. Make that appointment with the doctor and pm me once you have been there. We'll sort this out together. Rich
thank you so much for your concern and kind words, i am too nervous to go to the doctor, and also should i not be on here is this only for straight a.a. ?? i am not a " practicing" alcoholic, but am addicted to drugs, trying to recover
Ilak Of course you're welcome here. The boards are frequented by people with all sorts of addictions. I'm not specifically familiar with substance abuse, but try looging into the NA or substance abuse forums. There are lots of people there with more experience. They can definitely help. As for the doctor. You really need to overcome your fear. What is worse? Worrying yourself into more illness or having your problem diagnosed and getting treatment for the symptoms. We'll still be here. I'll post this message on other boards to see if anyone on the other forums can help you.
