| Morphine users in recovery?
My AH is in treatment because I finally drew the line when I found out he had been shooting up morphine and versed. He said he was only using for about 2 months. Are there any morphine addicts out there who have successfully kicked this thing in the butt? Thanks, Lizzy |

Hey Lizzy, Morphine was one of the drugs that I use to put in the needle, however it was the needle I was addicted to. A drug is a drug, a addiction is a addiction. If he is sick and tired of being kicked in the butt they are a way out. Detox/Treatment is a great place to start, but it's just a start. If he wants a better life, he can get it. But he has to want it for his self. He is being told what he needs to do when he gets out, and worrying about "kicking it" is not one of the things he needs to do. NA is where I found out that today I do not have to use.

| Opiate Addict Here
Hi, I'm Jocelyn. I am an opiate addict and morphine is an opiate that I have danced with. I don't shoot up I snort, but it all goes to the same place no matter how you take it. It doesn't matter if he has been addicted 2 months, he is still going to experience withdrawal if it was an everyday-everyother day habit. Talking to a Sub. Abuse councelor or Dr. about detox would be a good place to start. He may need to detox in-patient. The diarreah, stomach cramps, body cramps, sweats, etc.. can really be a big B*** so he will need a lot of support and need MEETINGS MEETINGS MEETINGS. I wish you and your husband well. Luv and prayers sent your way... Luv Jocelyn

Considering there are more than one and a half million NA meetings a year, I would have to say a whole bunch of us have kicked this thing in the butt!! | |

I'm a recovering addict and my drug of choice was opiates. It's been 94 days since i've used drugs last but I have had almost two years clean at one period in my life . I originally started using heroin but I returned to using with prescription drugs(morphine etc.)due to a motorcycle wreck.I started using morphine because of it's availability. It was very hard for me to stop. Rehab was a start but it didn't do it alone. Actually the re-hab just got me clean once I left I didn't stay that way. But don't be discourged because it can be done. Where it actually takes place is in the meeting rooms , with a sponsor, and by working the steps.I've been to a dozen rehabs but I never really applied myself to the N.A. program until this time. I can't tell you what makes this time different than others,,,,,,but it is very different. I'M TIRED OF LIVING THIS WAY!!!!!My g/f has had it. I don't blame her at all, but I'm not doing this for her. Like I said "I'm tired of living this way" Hopefully your A/H is tired also and he'll do something about it. It sounds like he's started the process. Good luck and any support you can give him will help but there is a difference between support and enabling him. I know the difference because until my g/f stopped enabling me I didn't get serious. People recover from this stuff every day. I want to be one of them...hope I see him there with me. Mike |

Jaz that you in the avatar? great smile! Mike .. we can always use another rider over on bikers in recovery. ( hint hint) "Different" is a good sign.. I noticed something like that when I came back for the duration. I stopped having so many expectations and projections and just settled in for the daily grind. Keep grinding brother! |
