It's that time of year, once again, when our Area Service Members come together to elect new people into trusted positions of service for the groups to further carry the message of recovery on our beautiful little Island. I am feeling rather sad after packing up so many memories of the past year. I didn't think this would be so hard for me to write about, but it is. I have served at the Area level for all 4 years of my recovery and I will not be taking another position this year due to increased physical restrictions. It's kinda' hard to accept, but I am trying. It was a very difficult decision to make. When I first became active in service, it was a great way for me to stay out of isolation and out of my own way! Somewhere through the years, though, I found out that I was doing it because I had come to care deeply for the addicts who were hurting and still suffering. I had found compassion. A far cry from the lonely lady who only knew how to take all of her life!! There is a chance that I may be able to return to a more active lifestyle, but for now I will be content knowing that what I have done in past service will continue to affect many lives for the better. This is also the perfect opportunity to become more actively involved with my home group!! Just For Today cj |

Like our symbol says, True good will in service is "doing the next right thing, for the right reasons". All areas of service are for the addicts who still suffer. Thank you for you love in service!!!

CJ, You are truly an assett to the fellowship. I am sure you will find a way to continue to serve. From one service junkie to another, I understand how you feel, I recently had to resign from my Regional service position and it was very difficult.
