How to inform employer

Hi I am new to this site and looking for some answers. As it seems you good people here have all walked in shoes that look like mine. It looked like a good place to direct this question.

I have worked for myself solely for the last 9 years and now a am working at a place that I love, however I know my office manager is a tweek freak and I have no idea how to tell my employer without looking like I am seeking this persons job and/or just bad mouthing her.

I am a recovering tweek freak for 10 and 1/2 years now. I do not feel threatened by this person but know that it will only be given time till hurt them in many ways. This saddens me.

All the signs are very clear to me, but my bosses wouldn't know a user it the drugs were done in thier face. They are REALLY good soft fine people and I do not wish to see them get hurt in this matter and lose what they have wroked so very hard to get and not know what hit them.

I would go to my local meeting to discuss this how ever I live in a very small town and if I were to start to try to have this conversation here ALL would know EXACTLY WHO I was talkig about and that can not be good for any of the parties involved.

I hope I have been clear, if not ask me qestios as I really want to help these nieve sweet people.

Thank you in advance for any and all help,

MPbird

I am not familar with the term tweek freak but, I know that often the messenger with bad news gets shot....

I think it would be best to keep your own butt covered, pray for your co-worker and, wait and see what happens..... unless this person is opperating dangerous equipment then it might be your place to say something even then use great caution if you do not want to end up loosing your job... if your bosses are loosing something as a result of this tweek freak it will come to light....

Tweek Freak

is the same as speed freak aks meth monster, I could go on as I was one of them and in a sense still am. I just have not used in 10 years. I aggree that often the messenger is the one that gets shot. I just am trying to find ways to help my employer see what is going on. I work in a brand new 15 room B & B. I have been my own employer till now since I got out of rehab. I would have wanted someone to bring such things to my attention. My employer is very nieve and would not know the signs it they slapped her in the face. So what I am seeking is ways or pamplets to show her what could happen if she continues to allow this person to work for her.

She lied about her experience to get the job and did so very well, as we are very good at doing in our disease. She had now brought her boyfriend in as maintaince. Both have keys to the entire place. This B & B has a 5 star rating and I would hate to see bad things happen to good people. I know there is information out there to give to employer. What I dio not know is how to find it. Hence I have come here in seek of this help.

If you guys have a Faculty Assistant person (a counselor) you could probably tell him/her. It is confidential information but that person would have to go to the supervisor and let them know what is going on.

There is no way to tell them without sticking your neck in a noose. Prayer and meditation is the best thing I can suggest. Ask your higher power and listen for that answer that you can live with.

What Gooch said! The employer will eventually catch on, but I don't think it's your place to tell unless it is potentially causing you direct harm, then you could just mention the safety concerns, without outing them about their problem.

Why Take On The Responsibility Of This Problem??
This Person Is Not Ready To Deal With Their Addiction So What Good Would It Do Her Or You To Force The Issue.you May Very Well End Up Regretting It If You Get Involved.
If There Is One Thing I Have Learned It Is To Worry About Yourself And Only About Others If They Ask You To.
Its Hard Enough To Live A Normal Life And Go To Work Everyday With An Addiction So Why Make Things Harder For This Person.before You Speak To Someone Else Maybe You Should Bring Up Situation With This Person Directly And You May Be Able To Help Them Instead Of Making Things Harder For Them.

I always look at situations like this and weigh the good with the bad. Considering that you are not repsonsible for anyone's life, than the bad outweighs the good of you telling your employer by a landlside. I am a little familiar with the Bed and Breakfast industry and can't imagine what devastating harm that a couple of addicts can do to this business or how they could affect that five start rating you mention. Before anything got to that point, they would be found out. Either by things stolen that involved the police or by complaints by guests.

I agree with Gooch and the others in that you are only sticking your own neck out there if you try to expose this person. The bad things that will happen to you far outweigh the good that can come from you telling the owners/bosses.
