Hey folks :] I started abusing 30mg of this drug per day 2 years ago. Slowly my tolerance increased to where I now take 100mg to 200mg per day, sometimes every other day. I'm wondering how addicted I am? I have plenty of the drug to taper down but I don't know what sort of timeframe I should use. Thanks in advance for any input :] ~Cleo |

Hi Cleo, and welcome. The best advice I can give you is to see your doctor and be totally honest about your addiction. Don't be afraid - addiction to painkillers is very common and your doctor will know how best to help you. We're not medical professionals so we can't advise you on detoxing, which can be very dangerous when done without supervision. One thing we can do is support you in your desire to get clean, so keep coming back and let us know how you're doing. Hugs!

I was on Ms Contin a couple years ago and did detox myself, worst mistake I could have made, took 2 1/2 weeks to come around to feeling good enough to leave my couch. It is an opiate with a time release and with it being that, tappering usually never works, at least for me it didn't. I came off opiates in a detox and it was easier and didn't last as long as the couch did. I would suggest the same, talk to a doctor, if you can get to an NA meeting go, there you will find help on how to live your life without the us of drugs as many have for years.

I think I can manage this. I've seen people who took 800mg's per day detox slowly with little or no discomfort over a couple months. Of course everyones different :] I'm using the 30mg sustained tablets. My plan might be to eliminate one pill per week or possibly every other week. I have the MSIR 15mg (immediate release) for emergencies. I also have plenty of Klonopin & Xanax to help me through. After 4-8 weeks if I can get down to even 60mg-80mg per day or every other day, that would be a victory for me. May I ask what your dosage was when you detoxed Godsonmyside? Thanks!!!!! ~Cleo I was on Ms Contin a couple years ago and did detox myself, worst mistake I could have made, took 2 1/2 weeks to come around to feeling good enough to leave my couch.
