Smile Lafayette responding

Thank ya'll for responding to my question. I was very surprised to see them so fast. For the member who needed more info, my husband is in the medical field. For the past 3 years he had been hooked on marijiuana, xanbars, phentanyl patches(injecting up to 100mg a day!) ,diluadin, lortab 10, cocaine and at one time crack. This was NOT all at one time. It would be one thing for a few months then he would quit cold turkey, but after a month or so, jump to one of the others. We have been married for 2 years and together for almost 6. I have struggled with this because I have always been very drug free. He adimits that he is an addict, and I will never understand his cravings. Most of the time I had no idea he was high. He hid it very well. However, he does not hide anymore, he wants me to help him. Money was never spent because he would deal on the side and would get it for free. I didn't understand, but he explained everything. We even moved away so he could be around better people. He has come a long way and I am proud, but he cannot sleep without taking 1 or a half of lortab 10. But now, he buys them because he doesn't deal. He has quit altogether several times, but it never lasted over 2months. The constant thought of being more outgoing, on-top of the game, and more alert are the factors drawing him back. I just don't understand how someone could think or feel like that. But, if anyone would like to give me their 2 sense, I would appreciate it.
Lots of Love

Sounds like you may want to check out the Naranon board Amy. There is lots of experience from your perspective over there.

When you say that you don't understand, that's because you're not an addict. It's the addict in him that is speaking. It is a very cunning adversary. Even being in the medical profession, from what I know, there are options for him if he truly seeks recovery. The addict disease seeks people from all walks of life. The above posted suggestion about checking out the Naranon board is a very good one for you too.
