I am ultimately responsible for our recovery!

We resently had some problem at my homegroup here, so we went back to basics, being that its a basic text study! So we read " what can I do", after reading, a person brought up a topic afterwards, and people shared there E,S & H, also about the chapter, really good meeting. Anyway at the end, the that brought up, freaked, blew up at the group, thats not what she wanted to here, and stormed out. This was the Tuesday before last, Yesterday that person shared that they tested the waters again, Blamed it on the meeting, really.! Went on to say that it was that nobody told here the space that person was in was relapse. Anyway, We are responsible for our own recovery. Nobody else can see our warning signs if we dont share the proper feelings we are going through, We are not responsible for our disease, but we are responsible for our recovery. Our sponsors wont even know how to help us if we are not completely honest with them, even with some clean time. It is so easy to blame others for your actions, but we are resposible for our recovery. It just bothered me to here this person blame the meeting for what they did, like we did it to them. It happens alot I know, because people do stay sick, I just needed to share this. thanx

i am pretty much capable of blaming anything/person/event for any of my behaviors- but like its said: wherever i go, there i am.

and my heart goes out to the still suffering addict, and the one who will die tonight....

Rather than believe that we CHOSE to use, we will look for any excuse we can find. It's very unfortunate that it happens that way, but it does. I know for a while before my last relapse, I expected people to be mind readers and just KNOW what I was thinking and going through. That's a great way do build a resentment, but that's about all it does.

and builing resentments is a good way to go back out. Gotta share what I heard about resentments at a meeting recently. Having a resentment is like peeing on yourself, you're the only one who feels it!
