Does NA always give out keytags and AA always give out chips? I'll be going to a meeting in Athens, GA if that helps you guys any.

I'm going to my first NA meeting tomorrow and I really just would like some basic info... Thanks Guys!!

I'm AA....and never attended a NA meeting...so can't answer on their program.

Not all AA meetings give out chips and those that do...often have different
colors denoteing various times in recovery

My first home group in D,C never gave chips or year medallions to anyone.
Anyone wishing them could go to another very large
group's Sunday night meeting and get one.
Lot's of other groups gave them...just not my home group.

And I have never been to Athens tho I live in another area of Ga.

Enjoy the new recovery experiences...it's all good...

Most NA Groups offer Key Tags as part of giving out for extended periods of clean time. They do however have the coin medallions as well that sometimes are bought and given out either by the group and or sponsor. This though is basically on their own.

Earning what It was for me and my first meeting....

I don't really remember a lot of my first meeting. It was A.A. not N.A. for N.A. wasn't very strong here at the time.

I remember going into the group and knowing that I have now lost everything, or so I thought, and was willing to finally admit that I had a problem. When they said, find a sponsor someone that you want what they have, I seen a guy named Sam. He was very calm, collective, and seemed to be very understanding and knowledgeable. I knew he had what I wanted and that was his Sobriety. Only thing is I had to EARN that one on my own.

The only thing I really remember them saying although I believe it always has been and always will be about me Was "Keep Coming Back" I am very Grateful that I did and I do.

Yeah that white key tag is special. I have them hanging on my wall all the way through 2 years. I relapsed after 28 months. I have never since than beat that mark. I do keep coming back though. Just For Today
