anxiety - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

Hello. I used to be a user of cocaine. While never becoming addicted to it ( full blown alchoholic however) the last time I stupidly used it, the next day I felt anxiouse and scared all day, leading up to what I thought was a heart attack. Of course it wasn't, but i have not been the same since, suffering extreme anxiety and panic. Has anyone else had a similar experience. Thank you so much. This was about one year ago.

Hi Steve and welcome,

I had problems like that while using speed and coke.In recovery I have had some difficulty with depression and panic.I'm not sure how long you've been clean.If you have a sponsor you might want to discuss this with him and also bring it up at meetings.There is help available for anxiety and panic disorders.However,often just getting the problem out in the open does a lot of good.I believe there are some postings on our PTSD forum that cover some good calming techniques for easing the fears.Do some reading and keep posting.We are here for you.
