curious, I'm a stoner and was wondering if any of you have marijuana addicts that come to NA. I used to go to NA but was the only stoner there and felt out of place.

My main drug of choice was marijuana. I was definitely a stoner, though I did booze and other drugs too. I felt a little out of place when I started going to NA over 25 years ago, since most of the people in meeting had shot heroin or cocaine. But I learned to identify with the common problem we all had--addiction--and the common solution--the steps. I would encourage you to go to meetings again. NA doesn't make any distinctions among drugs. We focus on the disease of addiction. Drug usage is but a symptom.

I had done several drugs over the years...but always went back to pot. The drug that brought me to my knees wasn't pot, but I thought for a while I could smoke pot after quitting the other stuff, only to learn I was minimizing my use of it.

I know (former) stoners in NA...yep most certainly. We don't care what or how much you used...just what you want to do about your problem and how we can help.

Welcome!!

Peace,
Missy

the Na meetings in my area have a lot of unity problems so i go to AA but im probably more of a weed addict than an alcoholic. Good to hear that other stoners go to NA. Most of the people at NA didnt really take me seriously when i told them i was there for marijuana; i got a few laughs. I know i shouldnt care what they say but i guess im just too sensitive haha.

I was a "pot head" for over 20 years...I drank like a fish....I was a "pill popper".... I snorted coke like a vacuum...I was a "basehead" and I was a "crackhead."

Funny...no one ever asked me which drugs I used when I came to NA. I don't think I even mentioned being a crackhead until after I had a year clean. I guess it really didn't matter to them...all they wanted to do was help.

Bottom line.

I've been around a lot of years and have made many friends. I couldn't tell you what any friend's drug of choice was. It just doesn't matter. In NA we focus on recovery from the disease of addiction, not on specific substances. Believe me, no one is going to think you don't fit in. How would they even know what drugs you used, unless you tell them? I never mention what drugs I used. I did in the beginning, but now I realize it is inconsequential which drugs I used. What matters is how my drug use made my life unmanabeable and how NA can help. Glad you're here :-)
