| Attending NA Convention this weekend
I am looking forward to attending the Central Indiana Area Convention this weekend. This is the convention where I met my sponsor. (We have a regional convention that has been going on for 16 years every March.) This particular convention coming up this weekend is an area convention put on by our Central Area which is basically the Indianapolis Area. It's been going, I think um....this is the 7th one...but maybe the 6th...not sure. Anyway it's growing. They have moved it from the hotel and conference center it started at to a new location this year. This new location is a place where the Regional Convention has taken place. Very nice Marriott. It's about a 45 minute drive. oh...and kj?....the lady that originally said she'd love to go the her first convention with me backed out about ten days ago. Just so ya see it happens! I have hotel discounts with the hotel chain I work for so Im staying right across the street in a nice suite for 1/3 the cost of the convention rooms. Looking forward to some speakers and workshops! Peace, Missy P>S> I posted in the "Newcomers to Recovery" section in a thread about how we chose our screen names...for those of you who don't know how I got the name Missybuns...check it out. Yeah, but I bet she didn't call you the week before and ask you to book a deluxe hot tub luxury room on your credit card, not reimburse you for any of the money, then back out by passively-aggressively not showing up and calling at the last minute saying she'd be 2 hours later the way S did me. At least I hope she didn't do that to you. I had forgot all about that episode. I'm glad you are going to the convention, you'll have a ball. Are you speaking at all? I'm serious, if there is a cheap flight, I may come out to it. I love a good convention, and I like Indiannapolis, too. love, KJ | |

Good morning! Im here in Indpls at CIACNA VI I was looking forward to the waffle at breakfast....even sprayed it with the "conditioner" and it stuck to the iron big time! Nice opportunity to experience an unexpected change first thing in the morning. The chipper breakfast hostess spent the next 20 minutes picking and scraping it off the waffle grid iron. I ate something else....didn't want to stand and watch her labor over that. I kinda felt bad 'cause it was my waffle! So now I'm on site in the hotel lobby on their puter here reading the JFT (thanks Rez) and letting you all know I feel blessed to be here. I'm off to um...... a traditions work shop. Imagine that! LOL Peace, Missy |

hello again from CIACNA! The person who said they couldn't come....came. Liked it so much last night, stayed all night...went to work today and is coming back here shortly. I have logged on to both of the two computers here and both have soberrecovery in the recent history and not by me. Some one else around must frequent this site! Small world....or is it? Something I heard today I liked: "live my way into better thinking, not think my way into better living" Almost time for the cleantime countdown and Banquet Speaker. more later, Missy |

How was it? I got guilted into not going by my daughter, who said she is "going through a tough time" and wanted me around. In hindsight, I should have gone. I wasn't much help to her, because I felt resentful all weekend thinking of the fun I could have had in Indiana. Were there any excellent speakers? What was your favorite workshop topic? Did you buy any speaker tapes? Love, KJ |

Minneapolis is 3 hrs from here, but my mom is flying in on Thursday. We are driving her to Rochester MN for her 60th high school reunion. She is going to be here for 2 1/2 weeks. Haven't seen her since my Dad's funeral in January this year. Are you going to try to make it Missy? Hey, great talking w/ you the other night. |

Fishman, It was a success! Most everyone I saw, including me, had a great time. The main speaker had (im guessing) say 750 to 850 people. This is pretty good..this particular event is definately growing. They moved it from a former site due to it had out grown that facility. This is an Area Convention put on by the Central Indiana Area, which is basically the area that encompasses the City of Indianapolis. I personally feel the programming committee did a great job in selecting speakers for this event, I went to most of the main speakers...and the ones I didnt attend I got CD's of. I also attended several workshops. My idea of a great job in selecting speakers is 1. They talk about working the program of NA 2. They do NOT give a drug-a-logue 3. They carry a message of hope |
