beat the weed!

im happy to report that this past april 12 was my one year anniversary of sobriety. i have been going to MA meetings and really find it rewarding. Its important to work the program and it feels good.

here are the keys ive found to easily working the program and achieving sobriety.

1- attend meetings at least once a week.
2-get a sponsor.
3-take on commitments.
4-use the phone.
5-decide you want it and live off the power of getting your way with yourself. staying straight for yourself feels so good its like being super duper high. marijuana-anonymous.org

thanks for letting me share

Good for you. This is an NA forum. In MA is the focus only on marijuana or do they try to abstain from other drugs, including alcohol? Being clean in NA = abstaining from mind/mood altering drugs.

we are addicts

we are addicts whose drug of choice is pot. many of us are cross addicted. most of us abstain from all drugs. the only requirement is the desire to stop using marijuana. we work the 12 steps of recovery and change our lives.

is marijuana not a narcotic?
is this thread for narcotics addiction or narcotics anonymous?
doesnt narcotics anonymous have its own thread?

thanks for the hospitality rez.

12 step based recovery forum-(NA)- for support and suggestions from other addicts to help the addict that still suffers. If you are recovering or still in active addiction you are welcome here.
That's what it says under the forum description, and if you understand the concerns of copyright infringement and trademark protections, you'll know that "most" sites aren't NA or AA approved, but still are oriented for specific programs and their members. Where it says, "12 step based..." it's referring to the 12 steps of Narcotics Anonymous.

The AA Forum states:

Quote:
12-step based recovery forum for individuals with alcoholism. Your experiences, strength and hope make a difference and might just help another alcoholic.
thwartnot, if you were to go to the Alcoholics forum, you'd find that the focus of that forum is the AA program and Alcoholics Anonymous.

In this forum, we are addicts, yet our DOC is irrelevant. We suffer from the disease of addiction and terms like "cross addicted" imply that there is more than one disease.

doesnt narcotics anonymous have its own thread?
Yep! You've found it! Welcome to SR.

No, you are perfectly wanted here. So are people alcoholics, coke heads, heroin addicts, etc. We take 'em all. The point is, we don't make a distinction among drugs. If you go to NA meetings, you probably know what NA is all about.

Keep coming back!
