| Another happy thread
Hi family! Well, it finally happened, I managed to fix enough of my wrecked credit to buy a nice 2008 Mazda for myself (not even with a cosigner, all by myself!)! Shiny black and sporty and fun...wait a minute, just who do I think I am now!!!!! Seriously, I shopped, compared, financed a great new car, just like I always wanted. Everyone says I got a great deal on it, too. It's so crazy, even though I worked hard to get the car, I feel just like I won it in the lottery or something. So happy and grateful! I just keep saying "Thank You God, thank You! Thank you, NA! I keep feeling like maybe I don't deserve this. I mean, I've screwed up so much...am I really getting a break, a new life, second chance??? Yup, I think I am! ![]() KJ |

Are you kidding KJ…Congratulations. You deserved it. Enjoy. My bankruptcy was completed in September. I got rid of my 1988 bronco II old Betsey and just bought a new car to. Isn’t recovery grand. Ivan

And yes...you're getting (and living) a new life. We work hard, keep our priorities in order, we sacrifice, we put in the effort and we reap the rewards. Lost dreams are awakened and new possibilities arise...that's what NA tells us, and I've seen it happen in my life as well. I'm proud of you and guess what? Now you have a little bit more motivation to remain responsible and productive, eh?Here's a little different twist: As a result of active addiction, I ruined my credit and amassed an enormous debt for which I filed bankruptcy (2nd time). Since I had done it before, I knew how to rebuild my credit pretty fast and bought a new truck. That was 7 years ago. A gift of recovery for me was learning how to save my money. Now, in addition to having excellent credit, I also have more money than I've ever had in my life. It feels great to know I can get what I want today, but it even feels better not to want it. ![]() WTG, KJ!! Enjoy.

Awesome! I know exactly how you feel. I'm an ex 'freelance automotive parts specialist' so I used to drive a lot of nice cars, but none of them were mine. When I got a decent job in recovery I bought a 2000 Mercedes Benz and put an engine with about 25k miles on it. Oh yeah... and rims, because I'm ghetto like that ![]() But! I didn't steal it, and none of the money was from drugs. |
