Hi, I was here last year when my husband relapsed on crack. I decided to let it go. He got arrested (nondrug offense) and I refused to see him for a year. Then his kids talked to me and God talked to me and I went to go see him. And I saw some changes. But that's In a Controlled Environment. So, he's been granted work release and I told him he could come home, and that he has no more chances. If he uses, I am getting a divorce and moving to California to be closer to my brother.
I am so scared. He sounds good. He is saying the right things. He is almost 50, too old for the streets. He missed his father's funeral. He missed the birth of his granddaughter.

Still scared.

Have you thought about alanon or naranon meetings for you.

I am sorry, I understand the fear.

Yes girl! Naranon for you.

And your being scared is a valid feeling. And you probably should be, most all of us think we are going to get it right "this time" when we are locked up - sorry to say.

But...if nothing changes, then nothing changes. What changes has he made that are going to keep him from getting loaded again? if none than you'll probably get none. Sorry to be a realist but that is the truth with addicts.

All that being said I wish you and your family nothing but the best! Good luck!

Great point.

I never believe what a using addict says they are 'going to do'. I ask them what changes they are wiling to make NOW to assist their recovery.

Good luck!
