| Another yucky day--migraine time
Although I am not abusing drugs now (21 days!), I am still having the cra@@iest time. I have so many issues. I used my little blue phone book and talked to some NA people, and a lot of them say "keep it simple, don't worry so much, just don't pick up." But I can't stop worrying. 1. I have financial problems, partially incurred when I was still using. In fact, they were the main reason I stopped. I wouldn't have anything if I kept it up. Now my transmission went up, so this week I've gone from "barely making it" to "not able to make it." I'm having to look into refi loans now, to get through the month. And work any cra@@y overtime I can get my hands on. 2. I have my son, who's 15, really worried because he knows I'm worried and troubled. See, he's very sensitive. I try to pretend it's all OK, but he knows it's not, and now he can't sleep either. 3. I can't find a sponsor. I called a very successful woman I thought would be perfect, someone I knew was involved and active in NA for many years before I even had problems. But she doesn't even have time right now to call me back (well, I guess she is very active. Maybe she already has her share of sponsees?) I have to keep looking, I suppose. I was praying to God to help me this week, and I know in my heart that He will provide, in fact when I was at my lowest and praying, someone came to tell me their troubles, that their son has just been diagnosed with leukemia. I think that could have been God's way of showing me that I really don't have bad problems at all. I'm fortunate that I don't have that type of trouble. In fact my situation is nothing compared to that. I just feel so stressed out. How did I used to cope before the narcotics? I don't even remember. And now, I am getting another migraine. Oh well, I'm sure it will eventually pass. I can't take anything good to get rid of it, that's for sure. Thanks for letting me whine and vent. kj |

I've often found that when I have days where everything is overwhelming me, I often cut it down to 5 minutes at a time. As a fellow sufferer of migraines, I feel your pain. There are many newer drugs on the market called triptans that get rid of the headache by constricting vessels and reducing inflammation, as opposed to narcotics that just mask the pain. Two of those that have worked well for me are Axert and Maxalt. You might want to ask your doctor about that.
